Was told by my better half that I will need to transport up to 9 bikes on our multi-family vacation. About 600 mile round trip to Yosemite and back. Went without a hitch. Ended up with 7, but could of gone 2 more in a pinch.  If interested, got this 2-1 cargo carrier which worked out perfect for the job.   https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RFKBEO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Of course if you cared a bit less about the bikes, you could just toss ‘em, stack ‘em and strap ‘em in the bed and carry quite a bit more 😀.  OTOH, that tailgate bike rack is pretty cool.

Yeah, like the hitch cargo/bike carrier quite a bit. I see myself using it fairly often when want to carry 4 bikes and keep the tonneau cover on.  With the tailgate pad on could only fit 3 bikes on the hitch carrier because of the tire overhang.
