My ac stopped working. Looks like compressor is not engaging. I tried to add refrigerant but gauge on can says it's full. Wondering if someone can show me a list of troubleshooting steps to get my cold air back. Thanks

It's probably your condenser.
If i shows full, since you opened the system, it might be air in the system.
You should get the system evacuated at a professional shop and refilled.
Go from there.

The guage that came with the can will not give you an accurate reading. Use a better guage to measure both high and low to get an accurate reading. If your system is "full" then you don't have to worry about air being in your system because the pressure in your system is higher than the pressure outside, if anything you might loose some freon for using the fitting that came with the can.

I haven't work on the silverado much since I just bought it recently. I'm just giving you some basic idea on what to look for.

What you can do is check the fuse to make sure it gets power when you try turning on the AC. Try to spin the clutch manually to see if the clutch can spin freely. Try to manually jump your compressor to see if it will kick on.

Edit: the most important questions are; what did you do to the AC system before it stopped working? Did it stop working on its own? Were there any sign before it stopped?

Note: sometime owner tries to charge their system without measuring the pressure (both high and low) and overcharged causing the compressor to not work properly. Or it could be under pressure and your guage is not giving you the accurate reading. If it's under pressure, your compressor won't run.

Had the same thing on my 14 sierra.   Its a known defect by GM. The condenser rubs on the corner by how its mounted.  Replaced the condenser and installed a different style grommet to keep space between condenser and what it bolts to.

Can't assume that it's the condenser without measuring pressure for both high side and low side. If your AC system is holding pressure then it's something else that's not working.

Had this happen on my 2014 about two or so years back and it was the hvac blend door.  The part is cheap, but install was horrendous.  Theoretically it's possible to do it from behind the passenger upper glove box, but that was a no go for me so I had to remove almost the entire dash including the instrument panels and everything.  It still beat the huge cost of repair that the dealership wanted to charge me though.

Basically it's just a switch that the auto hvac system uses to change from heat to a/c.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the compressor should still run as long as the AC button is lit even when the switch is on heat.

It's been a few weeks with no update from OP. I assumed the problem is fixed.
