2018 sierra K2 6.2 l

Good evening, 

 

I have just purchased my first GMC truck its a 2018 sierra Rocky Ridge K2 with the 6.2 with 65000 miles. Two questions I can have a local shop put a program to turn off the AFM or should I use the range chip??

 

Next is I got in my truck today and the Radio was going haywire luckily I bought an extended warranty through my credit union but is this a common thing??

An actual tune will void the warranty if you have one. The range dealio will not change anything with the actual computer and just disable the AFM system, most choose that route because it's easier.

I guess the problem I'm having is the truck has amp powered running boards that plug into my obd port. I bought a splitter from amp and plugged the running boards and the range in that I have but then the radio went haywire. That's the only reason I was thinking of a tune.

The dongle will work best, but remember, when you deactivate the AFM system for long periods of time and ever (for any reason) try to reuse it, it is common to have lifter failures from inactive use. Its not really an issue for the AFM system to work, unless you are already having issues with it. They normally work unnoticeably to normal driving conditions.

Interesting. Are you meaning I should re-enable AFM from time-to-time on my AutoSync options?
