I want to install an electronic brake controller on my dash in the panel where the OEM controller is located.  Will this small panel pop out or do I need to remove portions of the dash?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you have to remove the trim around the radio and other dash components. Are you installing the Curt Spectrum brake controller?

I too want to put in a Curt Spectrum controller, and would like to know how to remove that little panel where the oem controller would go. I usually don't have good luck with fragile plastic bits.

You'll need to pull the trim between the radio screen and AC vents, and the trim panel immediately below where the trailer brake controller and USB ports, to expose screws holding the entire setup for the radio, AC, switch panel, etc.  Remove those screws.  Iirc, there's 6 or 8 around the whole setup.  2 on each side.  Once the screws are out you'll need to pull the display out and start removing all the electrical plugs behind it.  I believe there's over half a dozen plugs.  It's actually simpler than typing this post.  I recommend going to harbor freight and buying some plastic pry tools if you don't already have some.  I believe the screws are torx.  I can't remember what size, but it's really small.

Thanks for the replies.  I know it posted a while ago.  I did learn from a video how to remove the trim panels as you suggested and it was a fairly easy process. The controller was installed in that small panel.
