how to disable key Fob?

I want to dispose of the key fob for my truck, so that all I can use is the key in the door alone.  i've tried this but it keeps tripping the alarm  when i unlock and open the driver's door with the key.  any ideas to disable the security function?

Program the key to your truck first so it won't trigger the alarm whenever you use the key. 

 

BTW; you need scan tool to delete the fob.

what if i installed the GM's exterior button panel for unlocking truck, will this replace the whole fob on my keychain?
