Its time to change my air filter. Seems to me the CAI $ for Hp is not a good value.

Wondering how the sound of the motor differs from an entire CAI vs a simple drop in K&N?

Open box =loud as ****

close box intake =loud

drop in filter = quiet

since a drop in filter will still have the big chamber in front of the throttle body, it will kill all the noise. I just installed a afe magnum stage 2 intake and the engine is loud as ****.

I just used a drop in. Don’t really care how loud the engine sounds .. I’m more into the exhaust setup. Cai just aren’t worth it for their cost vs usefulness. They look nice sure, but it costs 2/3 the cost of a 3-4” lift kit so screw that

The other option is to go right up the middle with something like an Airaid Jr. It gets rid of the baffle box but retains the stock airbox w/ drop in filter and MAF location.

I went this route. Looks good and a simple install. I will say that there is increased noise from 2500 rpm up. Doesn't sound great in my opinion, but I'm rarely in that rpm range so eh, no big deal. I went more for the looks and to make cleaning the engine bay easier.
