I don't think he is trying to sell anything, there is a risk of damage being done so why take that chance? Regardless of it being minimal it would suck to get a jump and either damage your vehicle or the one doing the jump and it is proven that it can indeed happen.

As you said jumper boxes are more convenient and as stated in that article are the safe way to jump a dead battery in todays cars and trucks. No need to take chances to save what 50-100 bucks for a jumper box.

From the minute I wake every breath is a step towards death. That isn't a risk...that is a fact. But I will not, of my own accord, stop the practice anytime soon. Everything is a risk friend.

There is a risk the planet will be struck by an asteroid. There's a risk someone put poison in my Tylenol. That there is salmonella in my leafy greens. That I won't wake from surgery. That I could get a flat driving to the post office. To much energy spent on Loooooooooooooong odds.

Point is we do risking things every day. Until someone can quantify the ODDS of this happing without using terms like 'Possibly' I will put this risk beside the FACT GM still prints it. These guys, as you know are risk adverse. I'll duck when they do. Besides the box is always in the vehicle I didn't drive today.  :uhoh:

Well...

I got an OnStar email yesterday, says my battery is low.  Truck starts fine, no DTCs or SEL.  But worried it’s coming...

Found an earlier thread about similar battery issues when mine was in the shop last time, time to go find it again.

Previous thread I mentioned above had several references to torquing the four fuse box bolts to 53inlbs (https://gm-techlink.com/?p=13437).  Even though it only mentions 2019-2020 trucks, decided to check mine anyway... got a full turn on each of the four bolts using my torque wrench, hopefully that was my issue!
