Engine Knocking

Wondering if this knocking sound is identifiable through a video.  This is a 6cyl in a 2017 Equinox.  The sound seems only to be there when the engine first starts.  After a short trip, there is no longer a sound that I can hear.

So many modern vehicles make all kinds of strange noises these days. It has become really tough to tell what's normal and what isn't. When I first heard a GDI engine, I though the thing was coming unglued!! Nope - totally normal. Strange times we live in!

 

That's definitely an odd sound, skipping several seconds in its frequency. I couldn't even begin to tell you what that is - could literally be one of 100,000 different causes, normal or bad. That's the 21st Century automotive world for ya. I'll be over here in 1969 where I belong ...

Thanks.  Yeah, I was just hoping someone might have heard that before and just know “hey, that’s the thing a ma bob - don’t worry about it.”  I’m pretty sure that it’s not internal to the engine do to the timing but can’t seem to isolate it.  Oh well.
