G80 is locker is  <s>3.73 gears</s> , I guess you are lucky ... or mistaken?

Better deal, but if you did even one thing wrong, you have no one to blame except yourself.

On my BMW 1990 535i, I do a lot of my own work like ECM and TCM chips, wipers, stereo (with the stock radio, gotta keep it original) etc., but, when it comes to the important stuff, i.e. engine, transmission, power steering, I still take it to my local BMW mechanic who specializes on old BMWs (heck, he adjusted my valves a second time for free because the first time wasn't perfect - 200K and still going).

I will be taking it to either the local Chevy dealership or to an independent mechanic.  The exhaust location is the reason I prefer not to DIY this one.

Take a 2x4,4x4 board. Under the truck middle of the frame. Slap the board up on the frame. Ratchet strap the exhaust to it. Maybe 3-4 clicks with the strap. Pan will wiggle out.

i believe it’s over where the tcase, trans is. Passenger side.

want a picture lmk!
I just did this task yesterday with the filter and did the tcase and both axles.

Yeah, I wish mine was the 3.73, but, heck, after a tune, if I stomp on the gas from a stop, both 12.5" tires will turn over for as long as I want them to do so on the 3.42s.
For leather, there is always Katzkin - I've considered it - but, in the end, not high on my list. If I ever have a hole burning in my pocket for an $1800 recover, I might do it.
But, property taxes are due ... *sigh* 😬

Hello - I am looking for advice on which transmission service is preferred.

Are you guys getting your transmissions flushed or changed?  From my understanding, a flush sucks out the old fluid while filling with new fluid.  A change includes dropping the pan, draining only a portion of the fluid, installing a new filter, re-installing the pan, filling with new fluid.

2018 Silverado 4x4 Z71 (5.3L, 8 speed)

73,000 miles on the odometer...fluid is original and never been changed

No issues with the transmission (only "complaint" is shifting from Park to Reverse results in a "clunk")

Thank you!

I just did this a couple of weeks ago. Dropped the pan, changed filter, and temp harness (intermittent CEL) and filled with the Mobil 1 fluid. You need to use the correct fluid. One of the posts said the dealer did it but used the AC Delco stuff. That might have been for a six speed but the 8 speed needs the special stuff. Had it at the dealer for engine lifter work. Also had the A8 shudder but they would not do the flush per TSB. Wanted to charge over $600 (400+ for flush, 100+ for trans flash). Did it myself for about $150. No shudder now.

Been here 21 years. I'm not selling or buying anytime soon.
Also, it's paid off.
