What options have you tried?

Howdy all.

 

I was curious what all options everybody has tried to see what EXACTLY is going on with their trucks.  Other than chatting with the Chevy webpage ("truck has not yet shipped, no ETA available"), to talking with the dealer once a week ("still just sitting there").

 

I contacted the dealership manager and wrote him a lengthy  email and he forwarded it to the NE regional director.  That got me no where.  In a nutshell, he said ("truck is waiting on a MP, missing part").

 

Just like alot of others I am sure, we all know there are 1000s of trucks just sitting in a field exposed to the elements and everything else (rodents).  Missing parts?  Chip shortage?  There are so many trucks out there, I am sure my truck is buried and could not be moved until the ones in front or rear have been moved.  When will that be?

 

I placed my order for this truck back last June.  Truck was built week of 11/15 and is just sitting there, code 4300.  Dealer got my hopes up when I saw the truck on their webpage.  I printed out a copy of that window sticker so I had it.  Dealer said it was getting ready to move to carrier, a code 4B00 I think?  Yeah...false alarm, was another truck, not mine.  Truck disappeared off of the website.

 

People tell me to just wait and forget about it.  Well, ******..been waiting awhile now.  Id like to go camping soon.  Need the 3/4 ton 4x4 for my farm use (think soggy turf in Spring time from snow melt).  Need my truck to take the dogs for a ride. Need my truck to do the occasional off-road excursions.  In my opinion, a pretty inefficient way to run a global business.  What a way to earn a customer's trust and loyalty.  I under stand supply chain, used to work in a global manufacture company, I under stand COVID (I havent gotten it yet, thank you very much) impacted alot, aka chips.  I can live without a heated seat...I just want my truck.

 

Suppose to have more patience the older one gets?  My patience have done run out, empty, tank on E.  Wife says I should cancel and try a GMC order.  Told her it would probably be the same...and my price is locked in...so I have that going for me.

 

Looking for your opinions.  Your ideas.  Hell..need to vent...do it here!!  Frustrated like me?  Let me know.  

 

What can we do?  Call the Flint plant?  I dunno anymore.

My opinion, albeit harsh, is either cancel and buy a new/used truck on a lot somewhere that isn't spec'd perfect for you or keep waiting. 

 

Did you sell your old truck already or you still have it?

Upon ordering the my new truck, dealer assured me that the new truck would be delivered by Christmas last year.  I sold my old GMC in August.

Then like I said, cancel or keep waiting. Dealers only know so much which is kind of the issue with them.

 

Just was curious, I figured you had sold it. What are you driving right now?

Contacted several dealerships so far, ranging from 5 to 15 hours away...seems trucks are sold before they get off the carrier.

2008 F150 XL V6 5 speed.  Power steering does not work when it gets below zero.  At least the FM stations come in...all three of them...lol

In Texas the dealers near me have some newer trucks. Lower trims from what I have seen but I know they have some. Different for everyone though

I know mine is not that unique and the District Manager said I was lucky it was built in the first place.  I don't think it is that unique.

 

LT trim with the Sports Edition Package, Red Hot, CP 1 and 2.  20" wheels with the A/T tires.  I definately wanted the Auto Trac.

 

Hurry up and wait.

Mine was ordered March of 2021 and built Nov 10th sitting in Flint since then called GM started case pretty much told to hurry up and wait. Told me it must be exciting being this close to owning a new truck.  Yeah this close yet so far from getting it. Live 15 minutes from the Flint Truck and Bus Plant 1000s of trucks parked all over flint I am pretty sure they have lost it.

      One of the few things I enjoyed about my time in the midwest was taking off on weekend drives. Unlike home, where we are boxed in by mountains and water, those rules don't apply to the inland plains. Roads connect and sprawl everywhere. While Minnesota is flat, it's not completely featureless and there are fast moving rural roads with curves and slight elevation changes. I used to relish heading out in a particular direction with no set destination, no curfew, and weaving through little townships, wherever the roads would take me. Along farms, lakes, or through the deciduous trees... It was beautiful in its own way, and the seasons were so distinct there. Fall drives yielded amazing shows of color and contrast. Summer drives rewarded with the and amber evening glow of the prairie (and lots of juicy bugs).    I do a lot of that here in my home state too. But it's much less mysterious/intriguing. I've traveled most roads in the region, and every road that's fun to drive within a good radius of my house. But every drive, even on the same old roads, is still enjoyable. I know where I can lean hard into the throttle or really throw the car into a curve. There are exercise loops for when I just need to keep certain cars limber, and much longer routes to settle in and enjoy a drive and put some miles on. All the mountains and water make for some really awesome roads for spirited driving. But not all my driving is spirited, for example, that's not really enjoyable in my pickup or this Blazer (that's still here...).   Sometimes a good drive is followed by a ritualistic wash before tucking the car away...

      'GMAuthority' is reporting the 2027 HD's will have the L8S 6.6L gasoline V-8.  There was some talk here about the L8S awhile back.  Not sure what changes it will have now as it seems the 2027 emissions regulations have changed from what was originally proposed.  The big question will be is L8S just a stopgap for the last 2 years of the current T1 HD platform or will it carry forward to the next generation 2029 T1-2 HD's?    I assume the L8S will still be a Gen. V engine.

      New engines will still be using DEF. You just won't have the limp modes occurring when you run out of DEF now.

      I am not a NOCO fan for a charger I would leave on a battery 24/7. The reason is, it doesn't really float. It waits until the battery drops to a certain voltage and then charges it back up to 14V. It's better than no charger I guess.

      I would never do anything but lithium.   If the vehicle is stored, just turn the disconnect off. My batteries are completely disconnected form everything in the trailer when my disconnect is off. Trailers don't always come that way as some still keep the CO/LPG monitor on. When mine is off...it is off.   As far as storage temps, LiFePO4 are good down to -20°C. I would store them in a heated place if it goes below that. You can also get heating mats with a thermostat if power is available.   The way the heaters work, if it's below 0°C, if a charge comes in, it is directed entirely to the heater until the battery gets above 0°C and then it allows the charge to go to the battery.   For my Android tablet I use as a display, I can move it inside my house if I was ever in an area that got super cold.
