Hi everyone.  Great forum!

 

I ordered my 2500 in September, and since then the MSRP has risen $1000.  I'm waiting to take delivery, and expecting that I should be paying the price shown at order time.  What happened to others in this situation, did you pay the price as agreed at order time, or whatever the price happened to be at delivery time?

In my case it turned out that I paid the amount we agreed to at time of order.  I did buy an extra TPM at time of sale, so they added that part cost to the truck price, so I could just write one check.

The agreement we made is that the dealer would let me know if there would be any reductions in price or increases, and we would confirm agreement upon delivery.  Since I was in the position of not "needing" the truck I was totally fine with that.  It was spec'd in a popular fashion with a lot of options, so the dealer was comfortable too.  Either way we would both be fine.

The dealer I worked with was very transparent and easy to work with.  No funny business, from start to finish.  If you have concerns, work with your dealership to put it in writing at the start.  That protects you both.

If there is a trade-in involved and they lock-in the trade value then I'd be OK with locking in the price -- subject to whatever changes are made in the discounts GM tosses into the mix.

 

If they won't guarantee the price of the trade, then we'll be negotiating the 'difference' amount when the truck arrives. 

 

I've ordered several over the years, from multiple dealers -- and have never given a deposit or signature at time of order for any of them.  There has always been a 'if it was here today' understanding of the probable difference price at time of order. 

 

When they arrive we figure out the exact details. 

Haven't had to walk away from an ordered one yet.
