There it is.  That oil is not Dexos rated.  I never thought the wrong oils could damage engine components until I became members of these various forums.

Those GM standards are to ensure the proper functioning of VVT and AFM.  It's not like the old days when oil just helped to shed heat and lubricated bearings.  Now it does work too.

So if this is the case, what parts are broken due to the oil? The parts have been replaced and immediately the codes come back. What part of that system continues to be malfunctioning? If I were to change oil, what parts would need to then be replaced?

I don't know Zack, start running the right oil and see if things work themselves out.

The oil you are using is not up to doing the work required to operate the VVT system properly.  Changing the oil a time or two ought to get things working right again.

I run ACDelco oil in my trucks with great results.  We also started using Quaker State full synthetic, which we can buy at Walmart, in one of the trucks to test it out.  So far so good.  I'll do an oil analysis after the third oil change to compare it to the ACDelco oil.

Just an update, changed the oil with dexos rated oil. No change. Not sure if Im supposed to go back and replace all the same parts for a third time or not. I think Im giving up. The truck drives fine and Im not going to dump money into the same parts over and over.

I have the same problems as you have. I have changed the same parts as you except fuel pump and harness as I like you couldn't find one.

Tried with a bottle of Rislone last weekend before changing oil and filter. It was actually OK for three days!!!, then it came back. The latest thing I heard of is that the cambearings are bad. And someone asked me if I had a crank/cam relearn done. I have not, but I never heard of anyone having to do that.

Does anyone know if that has to be done??.

My roommate's truck is doing this now.I have the proper scan tool and I plan to do the relearn as soon as he gets home. I will try to keep everyone updated if that helps he is having other codes though also, and i'm not sure if it's going to help.

Here is a list of ALL codes. Some may be irrelevant.
Timing: P0011, P0016, P0018, P0021

Misfire: P0300

Fuel system: P0171, P2635

U0401, U0401:71

C0755:03

I am a certified mechanic by the way. But I only have a few years of experience in shop

That would be really helpful for me to know.

Mine has actually got a tiny little bit better lately, the lights goes away by itself without me doing anything. It comes straight back again as soon as I lower the speed though😕.

But it's kind of an improvement.

Next step i plan to do is to find a way to do a relearn procedure and maybe get a new AC-delco sensor and change the one non original I put in there, don't remember what brand, but not AC-delco.

Looking forward to your results.
