Belltech Street Performance shocks too short?

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, just got my first truck several months ago, it's an 08 Silverado 5.3 4x4 RCSB. Anyway, I'm in the process of installing Belltech's 2/3 drop kit, I've already installed the shackles and removed the lift blocks, I made sure to tighten the shackles after the truck was on the ground. When I went to install the shocks, they were too short to reach the mounting brackets. If I had the top in, the bottom was about two inches short of the eyelets meeting. I contacted Belltech and the rep said he hasn't heard of this happening before and to just install them by lifting the rear slightly until the shocks meet the lower mounting bracket. While this method did occur to me, I didn't believe it would be a good idea to install them this way as the shocks would be topped out and supporting the weight of the rear end when on a lift or jack stands. While unlikely, if they were to top out while driving, I can imagine that would be really harsh on the shocks and mounting brackets, potentially damaging them. Perhaps I'm wrong and am just overly concerned, but I'm just trying to figure out if this is normal and if others who have also dropped their trucks experienced this same thing.

the problem is with the axle hanging with the truck on a lift or stands? If so you are ok, almost all stock suspension travel is like that

Ok cool, it is with the truck on stands, I just didn't realize that's how it was setup stock as well. Thanks for the info
