Does anyone know if you can put passive entry door handles on a Silverado Custom. Looking to get rid of the black plastic handles and get body colored handles (red cajun). Don't need passive entry to work just want the body colored handles. Any ideas?

The expensive route would be buying RST color matched factory handles. The cheap route is stick on covers. I bought gloss black ones to match the rest of the gloss black bits on my Custom Trail Boss. I hate the textured black plastic so I replaced the mirror caps and covered the door handles. Up close you can see some spots where it doesn't quite cover it all, but it was about $25 vs hundreds for OEM handles.

Take them off and have a local body shop color match them

The textured black handles can't be painted according to the bodyshop att the dealer.

I've been looking online for oem painted, that's why I asked about the passive handles. Don't like the covers at all. Have found some mirror covers for $75, but will wait on them. Body colored handles just look so much better than the cheap textured black plastic ones.

Yeah not the dealer body shop. You have to sand them down and then paint them. That's how we used to do it on the older trucks and that's how you can do it on the newer ones.

I was able to order a set of smooth black handles and have local body shop paint for me.  I've sanded textured black parts in the past and painted; just don't have the time these days.  Parts and painted cost me $400 total.

I had a post over in the 2500 threads, Denny you may have actually commented on there now that I think about it haha.

Didn't know that, Sonders mentioned it as well. I have to ask another body shop. But getting back to my original question, can you put on the passive door handles on a Custom? I've seen some on car part painted cajun red that would match.

400 is about where I want to be all in. Dealer quoted me 400 to paint since it's a tri-color. Are the smooth handles plastic as well?

yes, the smooth handles are plastic as well.  You can install the passive handles sure; you just won't have the functionality of the button for the passive system.

Thanks that's good to know. I've also found a set from 2018 nonpassive that look like my 2020 but paintable. Do you know if they work from your research?

I was told by a few different dealerships that they would not work, but I still have a hard time believing it.  They look identical.  I was tempted to buy 1 handle and try it, but never did.  Sorry that's all the help I have on that.  Also check Tahoe and Suburban when doing your search.

I had seen some fitment info on ebay that the handles fit 2014-2020, but I don't trust how accurate ebay descriptions are.
