I watch a lot of movies and I always used to wander around Blockbuster checking out the older movies to find some interesting ones that I had never heard of. Now, with Netflix there are a ton more movies to choose from so I just go crazy looking through them all.

What movies would you choose for your ultimate DVD collection?

Some of my personal favorites well known movies are:

Gladiator,

The Patriot,

American History X,

Shawshank Redemption,

Stargate (also love SG-1 on TV)

Some more off the wall ones that I Like are:

Critters I, II, III, and IV,

The Dead Zone (movie and tv series on DVD),

Sling Blade.

So how about you guys. Any good movie suggestions?

chevy4x4trucks,

I watch a lot of movies too. You mentioned some good ones in your post. We made a home theater down in the basement and that is where we watch movies.

Some other good movies for various reasons are

Seven

Star Wars EP1 and EP2

Shrek

Toy Story

Lord of the Rings (both)

Saving Pvt Ryan.

I use a program called DVDProfiler to catalog my collection of movies.

Seven

That was a great movie, excellent pick.

The LOTR trilogy was great too. People keep complaining about how long they are, but they are well worth it. I didn't see them in the theatre, which is a plus, much better when you watch at home and you can pause it and sitting on a comfy couch.

All I want that I don't have is:

All the ST:The Next Generation DVD Series collection

Season 1 & 2 of Alias

The Bourne Identity

I don't buy many moives that I'm only gonna watch a few times. The ones I do buy (like The Transporter) never get old (to me)

Seven is definitely good. LOTR I did see in the theater but liked it better here. Northshore was PACKEDwhen I saw it. Plus with the DVD you can get the extended cut, and you don't have to pay $5 for a pepsi :P

I can also adjust the sound here better so if I want to feel the rumble I can... Plus got the recliners down there and usually the dogs come and crash on their beds on the floor, so just more comfortable.

I just picked up Freddy vs Jason the other day that I will probably watch this weekend.

The Transporter, another good one, that's in my DVD collection. I can't think of the actor's name, but he rocks, i've seen a lot of his other movies (non-stateside).

I didn't care much for Freddy Vs. Jason. It was alright, but kinda weak compared to the other freddy and jason movies. Although Jason X was really bad.

chevy4x4trucks, the guy (Jason Statham) from transporter was also on Snatch and Italian Job both of which I thought were good movies too...

I got Freddy vs Jason as I heard that the good audio demo disc with the DD-EX track. I didn't get into either Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th much other than seeing a few of them.

I also have the Bond collections as those are pretty cool too. I 've been collecting movies for awhile so have a few that I wish I didn't buy but oh well...

My DVD Collection

Jenna Jameson, too funny. I saw her on the TV the other day (clothed) and my wife asked me who she was.... I just kinda laughed.

Armagedon

All 3 terminators

Indy Jones trilogy

Gremlins 1 and 2

Every xfiles they have out right now(i'm a geek)

The list goes on...........

Jason Statham, that's his name. Yeah, if you liked snatch you might want to check out "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells" it's a great movie. I rent quite a few british movies, they produce some pretty good movies (and I'm not just talking about Mr. Bean either).

I may have to check that one out. Is it a Region 1/NTSC DVD?? I have a region free player but it does not convert PAL to NTSC so may not work here...

Thanks

Yeah, it's NTSC so you shouldn't have any problems with it.

Good movie with loads of laughs.

I know you can get it on netflix.com if you can't find it at blockbuster or any other local place.

I'm drawing a blank on some other good british movies, a few that I can think of are:

Essex Boys and Trainspotting.

Hey Bigdogs...That DVD Profile thing...Is it software, or web based?

Because I have quite a few DVDs, and the only thing I'm using is an Excel spreadsheet with hyperlinks to IMBDs descriptions. I would like something a little more efficient.

Here is about half of mine.

Wingnut,

It is software, basically a specifically written database for DVDs. It has cover art, video and audio properties, cast, and a whole lot more. It will also allow you to create an online listing of your collection. If you click on the link in the message I left above it will go to my current collection. (which is optional, you don't have to share it if you don't want to. If you want to check out the program itself go to.

I have like 370 or so movies so I use this program to keep track of them all. Looks like you have quite a few too so might be worth a look at DVDProfiler.
