Has anyone been successful at adding the factory trailer brake system to their K2XX platform truck that wasn't equipped with it from the factory?

As the title says: Has anyone been successful in adding the factory trailer brake system to their K2XX platform truck that wasn't equipped with it from the factory?

I have a 2018 Silverado Z71 that did NOT come with the factory trailer brake controller/system and I would like to add it.  I've read that in addition to installing the needed parts (trailer brake control module, dash control panel, etc), the IPC needs to be reprogrammed to work with it...???

Does anyone have any info on this?

I was just about to post same on my 22' Silverado LT.  I presumed new truck had installed  but doesn't.  I'd like to have the unit in the dash not an aftermarket under. I see ebay sells the module, and connector came in glove box. Any info appreciated

Can't be done.  Its more than just the switch and module missing.

Aftermarket is the only route.

#PIT5241G: Adding Integrated Trailer Brake Controller RPO JL1 - (Mar 30, 2020)

Subject: Adding Integrated Trailer Brake Controller RPO JL1

Condition/Concern

Some customers may request the factory Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (RPO JL1) be installed on their Full-Size Pickup or SUV when the vehicle was not ordered with the option.

This is to advise you that, if the vehicle does not have the option (RPO JL1), it cannot be added to the vehicle.

Note: Reference the latest version of PIT5282 - which advises how to install an aftermarket trailer brake controller.
