I have an engine noise sounds like a bearing going bad but I checked everything up front then found the noise occurs even with the serpentine belt off. It is low on the front end as if it were right behind the crankshaft pulley... could it be the oil pump or timing chain tensioner? I don't have any low oil pressure problems and it does run smoothly no lifter or rod knocking noises.

It seems these days anything shy of a V8 truck engine is designed to be thrown away not long after 100k miles (or 60k on some econoboxes). Could be any one of the parts you mentioned.

If I were a betting man, my money would be on something in the timing chain area just based on the number of failures I see today - not just with GM, either - with EVERY brand today. Seems everyone has forgotten how to make timing chains, guides, or tensioners reliable.
