2018 Chevy Silverado LT 5.3l 8l90 eAssist (I believe)

so I have an ‘18 5.3l 8l90 as shown above. From a Facebook group I found out the only way I could have the 8 speed in the 5.3 is if my truck is the eAssist model. Not sure how accurate that is but I figured I’d come here to find out. (I am new to GM trucks I came from JDM/Hondas into the truck world recently)

I purchased a Pulsar LT for my truck and installation went smooth. Literally 5 minutes max. When I went to program it, holding down the cruise control cancel button did absolutely nothing. Speedometer didn’t top out at 140, then back down to 0. Couldn’t get into programming.

my question is, does the Pulsar LT not work on the eAssist trucks? If not, would just the simple range plug in work?

thanks a lot.

never heard of Pulsar LT. and i've been here awhile

you dont want to exceed the top speed limit set by factory due to the length of driveshaft, once you pass critical shaft speed you'll wrap the shaft around the rockers and floor panels beating eveything to sh*t

The Pulsar doesn't work on 14-18 trucks.  And very little works on the eAssist trucks.

If you need to make sure you have an eAssist truck, look at the 8th digit of the VIN.  If you see a "C" its a regular 5.3.  If you see an "R" you've got an eAssist 5.3 truck.

Is it the "only" way you have the 8 speed?  On an LT that I know of, yes.  If you had an LTZ or High Country, they built some of those with 5.3s and 8 speeds.

I just purchased the Pulsar LT for my 2015 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3 and I also cannot get it to go into programming mode. The truck will also not crank/start with the Pulsar LT installed.

Did you ever get yours to work and how so?
