frame

David is 100% correct about the frames. They didn't make that many "HD" frames in 2000 . Easy way to tell is look at back end of it. It will be Boxed at the rear, where the 1500, and 2500 ( light duty) are just C channel.

the 3500 WILL be a Boxed end frame.

will a 2000 4x4 2500 frame interchange with 2000 4x4 3500

Well, this will depend.  What does the 2000 4x4 2500 look like?

Does it look like this body style?

Or does it look like this body style?

A 1 ton for model year 2000 looks like that bottom picture because the only 1 ton trucks they made that year were still the carryover chassis.  GMT-400 frame.  Now for the 2500 series trucks, they made both the classic 2500 (GMT-400 like the brown truck bottom picture) and they made the new Silverado new body 2500s (top picture GMT-800).

So a frame for your 1 ton would have to come from the same generation of truck, a GMT-400 so 1988-1998, and 1999-2000 as the Classic GMT-400s.  You won't be able to swap to a new style GMT-800 frame, not without a LOT of work.
