Been getting a lot of errors on screen for the backup camera in my '22 refresh AT4. If I put it in reverse, it just randomly loses picture and shows a circle with a line through it. Then it'll just as randomly come back on.  Sometimes repeatedly while backing up. Can't find any sort of pattern to it though. It's never failed to come on at all and doesn't go out every time it's used. Very odd.  I have seen someone else with this issue on the Silverado and it stands to reason since they're the same truck under the covers.  Trying to figure out how widespread it is.  This photo is not mine but it's the exact same icons/errors on the screen.  My truck has less than 1K on the odometer.  I realize it's under warranty and can/will be taken to the dealer at some point.  I'm gathering info at this point.

X3 here.  Happens so intermittently for me I've never bothered to deal with it yet.

Same here. It fails sometimes, like when you need it!  Cant log into google either, GM support cant help either. I think this google asking to sign up every start is a driver distraction. Gotta make a complaint to transport Canada

Been happening to me a lot the past several days.  I dread taking it in until they know what's actually wrong.  I hate having my truck dismantled for "trying stuff".  If it's genuine troubleshooting for one-off stuff sure, this clearly is a bigger problem than my truck.

There is a TSB on this issue for troubleshooting both the camera itself and the coaxial connections for high resistance.

3 posts with the same issue, yup, lets assume all signs point to a bigger problem...

Are AT4 cameras different than other trucks cameras? Title signifies it is unique to one trim but others with the same problem have different trims.

Believe the camera system is the same.  I always include my trim just in case there is a pattern.

I am having the same issue on my 2022 refreshed Silverado 1500.  The dealership replaced the camera once and that did not resolve the issue.  What is discouraging, is one of the service advisors said his does the same thing as if there was nothing wrong with it.  I noticed it primarily happens at night or in parking garages where the lighting around the vehicle changes from dark to brighter and vice versa.  The image is not clear like an HD screen should be at night either.  In comparison, my wife's 2020 Encore GX's camera image is crystal clear and vivid where the Silverado is grainy (noisy in today's digital camera terms).  Seems like some Cadillac models had a recall on this issue already.  We just need to be vocal about this safety issue.

I was informed by my dealership late yesterday that GM released a lengthy software update for some radio/infotainment units that is to address this issue along with many other potential issues last week.  They said GM has no plans to notify owners and the issue would be addressed as the customer advises the dealership of the concern.  The document ID is 6380108 and references "Y168 Most Notable Improvements:"  The portion of the list I have seen was two full pages single spaced.

Good news, maybe?!..  my truck visits the dealership Monday for this camera issue.

The update definitely addressed some stuff.

However, my camera still has the same issue.  The image is clearer since the update but the camera still goes out intermittently at night.

Anyone know how this may differ from the recall Cadillac had with their cars that were doing something along these lines?

    • There are probably a few threads talking about fuel mileage but this one seemed to fit the stats I have seen based on my typical local driven route but with different outcomes based on different seasons/temperatures. I have a few hundred pounds of items that consistently ride on the truck at all times such as a bak flip cover, rubber bed mat, tools and extra fuel so I would be something over 8100 lb without me in the truck. All these examples are based on a 100 mile round trip to a town plus running around town so maybe 110 to 120 miles in total for a trip. Using regular fuel and I assume it always has some ethanol in it but don't know the percentage they blend in. Also speed wise I am going at 62 mph and non aggressive driving although less speed yet if its crappy winter condition roads. I am going by an initial reset of the computer generated fuel use numbers averaged over a couple of thousand miles or so for each weather/season so they may be more optimistic then actual hand calculated numbers. Basically this is painting a picture of doing the same drive but seasonal conditions and temperature being the major variable to the end result. Oh and although I am in Alberta Canada, I am converting it to miles per US gallon so there is no confusion.    So winter time it gets cold here, no real surprise there and the roads can be clear at times but also often have packed rough snow or are are driving through loose snow ( they do a poor job of plowing the highways ) and yes this includes the extra idle engine time due to trying not to freeze ones butt off. 12.7 mpg is what I was getting during the winter months on average.    Then during the spring when it was around the freezing point and the highways are clear of snow, I was getting around 14.25 mpg.   Summer time, I have been getting around 15.15 on average but certainly some of the trips showed quite a bit better fuel mileage, so much depended on how much or little I had driven around town and number of engine restarts after sitting for a while at each location. But stating a best fuel mileage trip to town pretending that is what the truck gets on average is fooling ones self for sure !.      As I said in a different post, I had driven a 645 mile trip over a couple of days stint to a different destination then these other daily to town examples above, and was done during the summer with nice weather and not bucking a head wind, also keeping at 62 mph and its a rolling landscape type highway drive ( this isn't southern Alberta or Saskatchewan flat lands ) Hand calculated fuel mileage in this case though and it came out to 17.65
