2022 Silverado 1500 / 5.3.   I just got out of a Jeep Wrangler that had an auxiliary battery from the factory that ran the accessories when the start/stop was activated.

Does my Silverado have this?  Or does the main battery handle everything?

Just kidding

Not a stupid question at all. The only secondary battery I'm aware of on Chevy trucks is for OnStar. I did a parts search on a couple websites. The main battery and the OnStar battery are the only batteries I could come up with.

With that said, I've pulled a handful of disabled Jeeps and Dodges off the road because of battery issues where the vehicle failed to communicate with the key fob remote and wouldn't start back up. I have not encountered anybody with a GM product with this issue, yet. Only battery issue I've seen with GM cars is when a military servicemember returns from a deployment and the battery is completely dead and needs replacing because they didn't disconnect it, or put it on a batter tender, prior to leaving. I think you have very little to worry about and will be good to go for the most part.

Thanks for the replies!

Late model Jeep Wranglers have had terrible results with the 2-battery system.  If the Auxiliary battery fails, it drains the main battery and the vehicle refuses to start.  Poor design on Mopars part.

Previous gen trucks had a spot for a second battery. I forget what year but they moved the battery from the right front behind the grille to the left rear by the radio antenna. Supposedly this was so the battery was protected during a front end collision so it could still provide power to Onstar. The old battery spot was left empty and you could add a 2nd one there if you wired it up. When these trucks were redesigned in 19. They braced it differently in the front so it did away with the old battery spot.
