I have a 2014 Sierra with the 5.3. Wanting to get a cam installed and delete the AFM system to help with reliability. From what I have heard BTR cams are the way To go on these trucks. I found this kit for a BTR cam and AFM delete. Are all the parts in this kit what’s recomended? Anything else I should do while Im in there? Let me know if you think some of these parts should be swapped for anything better. Here is the kit I am looking at. https://www.glennsautoperformance.com/products/btr-gen-v-2014-gm-truck-dod-delete-kit-w-btr-truck-cam-kit-l83-l86-5-3l-6-2l

also while I’m on this topic can anyone speak for whether other mods like headers, CAI or l86 intake mani would be worth it for power before I get a tune?

That kit has everything you need. I just cammed my truck 5000 miles ago with a BTR cam. It is great. I would recommend getting the revised oil pump for the 5.3/6.2 engines. I did for peace of mind.

Headers and a CAI will complement the cam. Don't need anything fancy for the CAI, just the AirAid MIT and drop in filter. Some people like the L86 intake, some don't. I would put it on, probably pick up some torque, and you get a bigger throttle body.

Thanks for response . So would you just go with that kit or are there better parts to use where I could spec my own kit out .

The kits are good, because they include everything. Some guys complain about the LS7 lifters, I have had no problems. You can upgrade to Johnson lifters, but I believe they are pricey.

You can also call BTR and they will explain all the cams and options and steer you in the right direction for what you are looking for.

Since you have to take the brake vacuum pump of anyway.  Go ahead and buy the pulgs and delete it.  So you don't have to worry about it going out and sending metal through the engine.

you can piece the kit together yourself. all of the big shops like texas speed, ams, BTR etc just charge you for the time to put it all together.  you can go to rock auto and put it all together yourself like I did and save yourself a lot of money.  the only thing you have to buy from a shop are the plugs that fill the oil holes under the VLOM.  I doing all this currently for a collapsed lifter.  I'm deleting my vacuum pump and having them install a new oil pump since I've gotten the Po6dd code a few times.
