4wd grinding on left turn only?

Recommended Posts

Alright here's a weird one. I have an 04 sierra 2500hd 6.0 gas with 260,000. In 4wd, either high or low, and when you have the steering wheel turned all the way to the left ( and only the left, doesn't do it on the right) I get a nice and loud popping noise. Very concerning and it sounds like something is about to break. I'm not sure what it is. It's not cv axles as those were replaced. The transfer case is a remanufactured one that was put in last October. Any ideas on what it is. Only does it when the wheel is cranked all the way to the left.
