Thanks for the info. I had a really bad experience buying a vehicle out of state one time and have been wary of trying that again.

That's also super far for me (I'm in central PA). My best offer came in around there (like $6k off). Couldn't get Ford as low but the equivalent Lariat build to my LTZ was a bit cheaper to begin with. I'm mostly satisfied with the offers, just not with the lack of clear/honest info, and with how long it's taking for anything at all to happen with my of my (GM) orders.

And now the strike so…😩

6k still real good

Agreed, at least in this market. I got almost $9k off my Ram 1500 just two years ago but I knew I wasn't gonna see that, especially not on an HD truck.

The first offer from the first dealer I spoke with was $3k off and I was even fine with that. Gave me a "bottom line" on a basic spec sheet so I told him to go ahead and put the order through. But then when he gave me the actual build sheet based off the order, there was a $1,500 "Dealer Advertising Adjustment" fee, essentially cutting my discount in half.

"Oh, everyone gets charged that." Yeah right. That's what made me start placing other orders.

SMH these dealers nowadays think we can't get a vehicle with out all these crazy charges and then wonder why their sales are falling off

Anyone else waiting 3-4 months on their build with zero movement? Like, no allocation, not picked up by GM, just sitting on the dealer's system twiddling its thumbs?

That sounds like a dealer allocation issue... I am in the same boat, but after asking many questions finally got the answers I needed which were they did not have allocations and there were a bunch of other orders before mine. So call them and ask if they have allocations. A lot of times the folks you are dealing with may not know exactly how the process works and the will need to talk to the GM to find out about allocations. I dont know how the strike is going to change the accepted thing at this point though...

I'm sure that's what it is but I don't know of a way to identify which dealers will get what kinds of allocations. Doesn't help that I've never worked with a GM (or Ford) dealership before so no rapport.

There wasnt a strike 2 months ago and Flint has been producing over 300 units every shift X 3 shifts and overtime. So a little quick math would say conservatively 1000 per day (its actually around 1100+) x 5 days a week x 8 weeks. Thats 40,000 trucks since you tried to place your order (these are very conservative numbers) so look at that and tell us who you think is BSing you ?

When I was at the plant in Flint watching my truck get built, we were told they build 52 trucks an hour on average. Pretty impressive...and that's just at Flint. Doesn't count all the ones at Oshawa.

How are those Lasfit backup and plate lights working for you ?  I have been considering them.

Funny a couple folks here mention Laura. I just found them through a local gent I know who has a substantial fleet and orders through them. Im looking into switching and ordering from them now. Will let everyone know how it goes...

Got the call today that my 3500 Ultimate came in today. No notification from GM app or Vinview. Ordered 7/2.

Anybody have email addresses for sammy at Rivard and a salesperson at Laura? Thinking about reaching out and seeing what kind of time frame they are looking at.

My Ford order production date just got pushed back another week. Second time that's happened. Still no movement on my Chevys. Strike will probably make it so that it's months and months before they even get the parts together to build these things.

I'm about to just get a smaller trailer for my half-ton and call it a day.

    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
