Yeah, I was hoping it would let me see my tires for parking assistance but they do not help with that. Maybe if I point my mirrors down but I haven’t tried that yet. I was hoping the mirror alone would take care of it.

When I set up my mirrors, I compared the views of the main inside rearview mirror, and each outside mirror. I set things up so a vehicle approaching, and passing, from the rear was visible in at least one of the three main or two BSMs at all times until it was adjacent enough to see with the naked eye.

While doing so, I realized that I had always had the side mirrors higher than they needed to be as the view back down the street from these mirrors was also be covered by the main inside mirror. So I lowered the views of both side mirrors. By doing that, I could then see both rear tires with the BSMs and when backing could put the tires within a couple inches of a curb or object without hitting it. The passenger side was more difficult to get used to in this respect, because the tires and objects were so small in the BSM, but became easier with more use.

Backing up is not when I want to see my rear wheels, as that's easily covered when the mirrors tilt downwards in reverse, and by the cameras. I want to be able to see my rear wheels when turning while moving forward, as these 1500s with non-tow mirrors have terrible vision to the sides because the non-tow mirrors block the entire side, so you can't see curbs at all in a turn. At night its even worse because the headlights don't provide any peripheral coverage. It's so bad, even reviews in the media specifically point out this shortcoming.

I was hoping that the stick on BSMs would help provide at least a little  assistance here. And, after more research I think I'm going to try cheap round ones in the lower outer corners to see if they help. Because of our uniquely-shaped mirrors, square or rectangle stick-ons look terrible, in my opinion.

Not trying to push these particular mirrors on you, however, just to clear a few points -

The way I have my mirrors now set, I can see my rear tires (on both sides) in the BSMs at all times. I do not have auto tilting mirrors when the truck is in reverse, I only mentioned the reverse scenario to describe the view better.

And when I first made email enquires with the BSM company, they started research and design, and subsequently designed the mirrors I eventually received, specifically for the lower outside corners of both sides, so they fit pretty well in those locations (they are neither square nor rectangular).

However, if you are hesitant about these mirrors, you should get a pair of the ubiquitous round ones.

I will go back up and revisit these BSMs that you have. BTW, I thought all this generation of trucks have mirrors that tilt in reverse. What year is your truck?

How do you have them set so you can see your rear tires?

Got'em on. They are of better quality than what you find in you local parts place. They are clear and give you a wider view. Still a little hard to see on the passenger side but thats mainly due to distance and angle from drivers seat. One thing I would of liked if they would have given a choice of edge trim colour  to help blend in to mirror housing a little better.

Your pics are no longer available. Is the trim on the edge wide? What color is that trim?

My vehicle is a '22 Sierra 2500HD SLE.

It was configured to have the trailer mirrors, but because I had them on my previous truck and did not like them because they were too darn wide (daily driver), I changed the order to have the regular mirrors. Unfortunately, although the site, order form and sales person promised convex passenger side mirror, it was delivered with flat glass (long story...). And the mirrors do not turn down when in reverse.

The BSMs are in the lower outside corner of each mirror, and I have the regular mirrors set out a bit, so the inside edge of the BSMs are right at the point just in front of the rear wheels. Because the BSMs are so convex, they can easily show the rear tires when the full mirrors are set up "normally". Because I set my regular mirrors farther out, especially on the passenger side, I can still see the rear tires.

There is no trim on the edge. The glass material is about an 1/8 of an inch, if not a bit more, thick and all that is visible is the clear glass along the edge, with the background base material (silver, if I recall, I am not near the truck right now to confirm) a bit visible. As a result of no edge plastic (usually black) like other BSMs, the BSM can be placed closer to the inside edge of the regular mirror.

Thanks for the details. Can you please post a pic of your BSMs installed, when you get a chance?

I may have done the attachments wrong as it seems they are downloads that have to be accessed and opened. For some reason, I seem to recall the first time that the image(s) were visible in the dialogue box...unless I am thinking of another site. Anyway, hopefully they can be viewed.

Here are the pics, finally figured it out lol. The trim could of been black to blend in a little better, it looks to be clear.

Actually, I'm glad you made those first links, which enable us to download better quality images than those that can be seen in the posted images. In the posted images, you can't really zoom in with clarity, so the trim looks white, which is ugly! In the downloads you can clearly see that the trim is clear, which is much more palatable than white!

Do you find that the BSMs block an appreciable amount of "normal" view? Like do you ever find yourself thinking the BSMs are "in the way"?

I have my exterior mirrors set to tilt down in reverse, but sometimes I just want to see where my wheels are at a glance in relation to curbs and such. Obviously, the separate wide-angle mirrors on the towing mirror package are awesome in this regard. I was considering adding little sitck-on blindspot mirrors to my standard mirrors, but am having trouble deciding on what shape, and where to position them on my mirrors. I was originally thinking little square ones in the outer-upper corners would be the most un-obtrusive, and won't interefere with the lower portion of the mirrors, but I have blindspot indicators in that spot. I then thought about placing rectangluar ones on the bottom of the mirrors, but I'm not sure if doing that would obstruct the normal mirror view of my tires when in reverse. If any of you have installed these little add-on mirrors:

1) What shape?

2) Where on your exterior mirrors do you mount them?

3) Pics?

Thank you.

Napa auto parts has a 3" circle convex mirror with a thin tin silver lip around the edge (not a chunky black plastic ring) which I've used for 30 plus years on every single vehicle I get.

In fact the convex mirror that came on drivers side 2022 custom I drive left a car and a motorcycle in blind spot from the seam so I had gm parts guy bring me in a regular flat mirror and replaced it so I could put my own convex mirror on. I already had my 3" on the passenger side. But there is nothing better than these imo, never shoulder check again and ease for parking. For both driving and parking. Don't go any smaller. Hope that helps. Install upper outer corners.
