I purchased recently a GMC Yukon XL from 2015 and the software version is rather outdated.

I do not have OnStar as this was stopped in Europe several years ago.

Is there a way to do the latest update offline, using a USB stick or eventually a diagnostics tool?

GM Dealer or shop that has access to GM Service Programming.  Something of that vintage there really won't be much in the form of updates anyway.

What do you "think" you are missing that an update would fix?

Hi @newdude, thank you for following up. I do not have a choice going to a dealer as there is no GMC dealer in Europe, unfortunately. GMC trucks are very rare here so I am not able to find a shop that does those neither.

On the other hand, I do have VX DIAG - VCX Nano that is meant to do many things. Do you know if I could do the upgrade using it?

Regarding why I would like to do the update, it started from the fact that I am not able to browse mp4 movies on my USB stick using the central console screen. Asked a question about, I was told that this is probably due to the fact I have an outdated software version and I need to update it. In addition, I do not have the option to connect the truck to my phone wifi hotspot nor I can download any new application.

The current software versions I have are shown on the attached picture, what do you think, should I update those?

Movies on the front radio screen weren't a feature on any of the factory programming.   That is done via HMI unlocking through aftermarket sources.

One place is WAMS - GM HMI Full Feature Unlock Service - White Automotive & Media Services (whiteautoandmedia.com)

Here is another place - GM HMI, Radio Unlock & In-Motion Services | GM Programming (gm-navigation.com)

As for if the software you show is up to date, there isn't a way of checking that without being plugged into GM SPS (service programming system).

Thanks @newdude. I was probably not clear. I am not willing to watch movies on the front screen in motion, but being able to browse the movies I have on the USB stick. I can change movies with the forward and backward buttons but cannot see a list of files / movies I have on the USB.

In which concerns the SPS, I have in my possesion the VX Diag - VX Nano tool for GM. I was trying today to purchase a 24h Delko SPS2 service but somehow I am not able to do the connection with my VX Nano diag tool.
