GM is so focused on "tech for tech's sake" that they are leaving out the part about making sure it WORKS in real-world scenarios...

Nailed it!

UPDATE!! It works! Took my truck to the dealership and here is what they said..."apparently you truck was in middle of an update and got hung up. This caused the software to not update going forward." So my truck was in middle of an update when it hung up. It could no longer update and was now 4 updates behind. Interestingly enough, the software showed "software up to date" because it could no longer update or ping for latest update.

Bluetooth, WiFi and Carplay have worked for 48 hours and 6 truck on/offs. It would be nice if Chevy had a website where you could check what the current version is and compare it to your truck version...similar to most smartphones.

It would be nice if the OTA updates didn't constantly bork all kind of stuff on these trucks. I used the update function on my Camaro with good results. I have completely disabled the function on the truck because so many people have had so many problems and it is likely the cause of the software corruption that screwed so much stuff up in my truck.

I did the same thing. I'll check for an update manually, once a month or so when its sitting in my driveway, connected to my home Wi-Fi. Otherwise, I'll remind the dealer to do it during oil change.

You're actually more brave than I am. I have no interest in even checking for updates any more.

Guys I have the same problem and at wits end trying to deal with it, upon going through all the system I found something that actually works try this. Go to settings then to System then to Quick Start up and turn off this feature, now your system will reboot every time you get in and start it up, so far it has worked every time

has there an update on this issue? I have a 2024 Suburban (High Country) going through this issue. Would love to know if there is a fix.

There isn't a fix but more of a work around. Turn Quick Start off. Either bluetooth or wifi is getting hung up by using quick start and not allowing Car Play to work. It takes 15-20 seconds for the Infotainment System to boot up every time you start your truck.

Not sure if this has been posted or not (didn't read the entire thread, sorry). I just did the following to recover mine after it stopped working a few weeks in:

- Forgot the bluetooth connection on my iphone

- Forgot the wifi connection on my iphone

- Deleted the phone from the 'connections' section of the truck

- Deleted the trusted device from the truck

- Held down the hangup button for 20 seconds and let the truck reboot

- Went to the "CarPlay" section of the iphone settings

- Went to the connections section in the truck, then to phones, add phone

- When the truck showed up as an available vehicle in the CarPlay section of the iphone settings, I clicked it

That took me through the standard pairing stuff (codes, click pair on both screens, etc) and then CarPlay started working again. I've drive the truck (off / on) 5 times or so today after doing this and all seems to be well. Fingers crossed.

I had my Infotainment center updated when I had my ECU/Emissions recall performed a few months ago. Between that and disabling quick start Ive experienced zero issues connecting to Apple CarPlay. I think disabling auto-air updates as well would be a good way of preventing further issues down the road (i just manually pull updates when I'm connected to my house's extended wifi). Prior to the updates I had to turn off Blutetooth and Wifi on my phone and manually re-connect the phone on the truck.  Hopefully this helps someone.

OTA updates are problematic because of the update. Many people are getting updates that are not intended for their vehicles and it's messing up the systems in the trucks leaving things in a partially or totally inoperable state. I allowed an OTA update shortly after I bought my truck last October and almost immediately had a check engine light illuminate for ABS communications issues. I cleared that and had started building out a list of items I needed the dealer to check due to not operating correctly (passenger side lane indicators, problems with touch screen responsiveness, EPB setting itself every time I parked in my driveway, and a myriad of other issues. I brought it in and they claimed zero issues (after having it four days. I picked it up and halfway home had every conceivable warning go off including reduced power and steering column lock warning (my truck doesn't have a steering column lock). I shut it off and was able to get it restarted without reduced power and took it right back. Another week later and a case with GM and they "found" a software corruption (from the update) in the Communications Gateway Module.

Since clearing that problem, most of the gremlins are gone (although the truck still completely violates the process for the EPB and sets it 100% of the time I park in my driveway which is completely level). I will never allow an OTA update on that truck again because what I experienced is the extremely mild version of what many others have experienced as a result of the updates (only their trucks bricked and had to be taken to the dealer by flatbed).

Totally agree! Turned mine off and only request updates at dealer during oil change. Its crazy that Musk has figured the OTA updates but GM bricks (exaggerating) our trucks on a simple 10 kbs update.

To be fair, I -never- had an issue with OTA updates in the Camaro, and had a couple of quirky issues get corrected via those updates. It's something about the current updates for the trucks, specifically. It's like they do not have the VIN's correctly mapped to different (appropriate) updates or they're using one update file for every truck and the systems aren't able to install ONLY the correct components. This debacle is a big part of why I have zero faith in GM's go-forward intent to fully dump Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in favor of their own software. Even with the current move to Android Automotive, there are issues with how it works.

2024 Suburban High Country. Car Play doesn't work. Tried most of the work arounds. Nothing seems to work.
