Key stuck in ignition

I have a 2021 Colorado. The key  will not turn all the way to off even if its in park. i see people complain about this issue. The dealership replaced the shifter knob, and that didn’t work.  I am getting ready to take it back in tomorrow morning.  It sounds like people here know more than the mechanics.  What is the name of the part I need to have them look at? I am a woman with car knowledge but they treat me like I am stupid.  The one guy told me I was actually putting the key in wrong.

They need to replace the shifter assembly.  Just the knob doesn't always fix it, they should have done both first time.

Is this a GMC covered repair outside of warranty or is this a customer covered expense? My 2022 canyon is intermittently having the same issue but it’s beyond it’s manufacturer warranty.

Out of bumper to bumper its customer expense.  No special coverages exist for this condition on these trucks.
