I want to help or replace the stock rear suspension so that I don't have excessive squat when trailering or hauling heavy loads.  I have a '20 1500 AT4 and am looking for recommendations on the best route to go.  I'm not looking for any type of lift, just a great daily driver suspension that can be aired up when needed.

I'm getting ready too.  From what I'm seeing, Airlift and Firestone seem to offer the better solutions that are true onboard air systems.

Etrailer has a number of videos and it's a fairly easy DIY.  I had the Airflift on my Tahoe with springs and it wasn't that bad.  I would however opt to try to mount the compressor under the hood.  I saw a YT video of someone who pulled this off quite nicely.

Buy a 2500 because obviously you are overloading the 1500

Thanks for the news flash. Obviously you are unaware that these things will squat with less than 1/2 of the rated weight.

I did pretty basic airlift 5000, one tee, one fill port drilled into the bumper step on driver side, cut a dowel to fit your fender gap when level and empty, I keep a floor pump for bicycles under back seat with said fender gap dowel and it's a 1 minute job levelling every time I hitch my trailer up and we hitch up a lot. I think I posted about my install here, it wasn't hard, I went for max simplicity for long range reliability. It's been a great set up! I had to especially do something as my 4/3 lift took away 1" of my rake plus I keep 400 lbs of fuel in the back of my truck all the time so there's always some pressure in my bags (that didn't sound family friendly) for my standard loads, with all my tools, chains, fuel and gear my added weight to bare truck including the heavy high clearance side steps comes to 985 lbs (including the 400 lb fuel tank). When the trailer goes on and all the fishing/hunting gear goes in, yeti's etc. just a few strokes on the bike pump and we're down the road with the same fender gap as empty. Headlights line up as normal etc. Great set up, will do this on pretty much all 1/2 ton trucks going forward...well any that I tow regularly with for sure.
