i am a first time GMC sierra 1500 owner. Got the vehicle in 2023. was looking forward to it for a long time. this vibration experience on the vehicle with no resolution in site shattered my respect for GMC. All the response from GMC i see here is "Sorry this happened. Give us your VIN # and dealership and we ll investigate further" one year later and they have not come up with a solution. this is humiliating and a disgrace. now i am stuck with this expensive uncomfortable hunk of metal. 

 

What engine do you have? Ten speed transmission?

Just purchased a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Ultimate Denali. At around 500 miles on the odometer, I starting to feel a shudder from the drive train. I initially thought it might be a lost a wheel weight/balance issue at first but when it starts to shudder while driving, I put the transmission in neutral and shuddering stops. Put the transmission back in Drive and shudder resumes. It reminds me of a similar issue with my 2017 Sierra 1500 Denali with the 8 speed that only required a tranny flush to fix. Let see what GMC does with this brand new truck transmission issue...

2023 GM Sierra - Valve was replaced and on the test drive the transmission went.  GM has asked the dealership to completely take apart my transmission.  I am on 3.5 weeks without my truck!! Yes everything is being covered under warranty but I hope I will get more compensation than that.  They don't know when I will be getting my truck back.

Welcome to the forum. You stated "Valve was replaced". What valve was replaced?

I was told the transmission valve.  Latest from the dealer is GM is asking them to disassemble my transmission to find out the problem.

Transmission valve really doesn't tell us anything. Maybe they will give you some info after they take your tranny apart.

We have a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD with 31000 miles that we purchased brand new off lot in 2023. My husband was pulling his boat 3 weeks ago when the truck went into limp mode. Our truck has now been at local dealership needing a transmission valve body. The valve body is on back order and we have no idea when we will receive. A transmission has been ordered as well but it also has no projected arrival date. In the meantime we are without a truck. GM refuses to provide enough rental allowance for a truck to haul what we need to haul. Does anyone know if there is a class action lawsuit for this model and if so how do we apply? This is infruating and GM does not seem to care. All they want to do is keep rolling out these think of chunks and charging an outrageous price for them.

I have a 2021 Silverado High Country with the 6.2 and 10 speed transmission.  Feels like driving over rumble strips at low rpm(1,000-1,500).  Truck has 52,000 miles on it.

 

Took it to my local dealer and they said there was no problem and I was likely feeling the Dynamic Fuel Management.

 

2 weeks later it spun a main bearing and had to be towed to a different dealer and ended up needing a new engine.  The service manager at that dealer told me the fix for the "rumble strip" feeling is to drain and flush the transmission, replace filter, fill with fresh fluid, and re program the transmission.  He said he sees it all the time and it costs $800.  

 

My question is why would it cost $800 to fix the issue when the truck is still under the power train warranty?

Hey there.. I purchased a brand new 2023 silverado last January. I noticed within 1 month there was something wrong with my truck. It started with hesitation in the engine, that eventually led to ticking in the engine, and my transmission had a shutter when going through the gears. When driving on the highway over 100, you could really feel the shutter in the truck. 

8 months and 24,000km later, I was told the tourqe converter failed, the transmission fluid was extremely burnt, and the transmission had metal shavings in it. They replaced the tourqe converter and the transmission, all lifters were replaced and a cylinder head was replaced. I have had the truck back 1 week and it still runs like ******. The new transmission is doing the same thing, and I still have hesitation in the engine. The truck is returning to the dealership next week for a third time.

I think for this 1500 you can try the nextgen drivetrain DIY valve body kit.

Hi All, 

The last time I posted here was on Sept 6th 2024. It was about the vibrations issues on my 2023 1500 denali. Long story short, the dealership i bought it from never even acknowledged that there is a problem and said that the vibration is normal for these engines. 

 

Summary, 

- Sept 2023 - Bought the truck from 

- Oct 2023 - Approached the dealership- about the vibration issue among several others such as the screeching noise while rolling up the windows, passenger small upper gove box not opening etc. 

-Then I kept going back to the dealership about the vibration issue over several months- they said its not bringing up an alarm code and so they cannot find the problem and that its normal for this engine. 

-Oct 2024 - I gave up on the dealership and ended up taking it up with Chevy delearship. 

-Oct 2024 - Valve body was replaced - drove it for few weeks - truck still vibrates. Booked another service appointment. 

-Early Nov 2024 - Torque converter was replaced. - drove it for few weeks - truck still vibrates. Booked another service appointment. 

- Late Nov 2024 - whole Transmission was replaced - drove it for few weeks - still vibrates and worse that it vibrates even in park mode. Informed Chevy techs.  

-Dec 2024- GM tech informs Chevy tech - that vibration for my truck is normal because it has DYNAMIC FUEL MANAGEMENT (RPO CODE L84).

 

After all that work done on my truck and a year later, they came to the same conclusion as the first dealership did. Where does this leave me as the consumer/ end user.
