2021 Silverado Truck Bed Power Outlet...

Hi Everyone,

 

Wondering what size extension cord to use, Length and Gauge, to use in the Truck Bed Power outlet on my 2021 Silverado with the Duramax Diesel. I would like to run an Electric Hedge Trimmer ( 4.5Amp ) and an Electric Chain Saw ( 4.5 Amp ). Thank you.

Any outdoor rated cord will work. The longer it is the lower the gauge should be ideally but that plug only supplies 400w.

I think the outlet is only rated to 3.3 amps at 400w/120v combined for both outlets.

Only if you can find a 400W coffee maker. My wife's little Mr. Coffee draws 600W.

 

This 400W outlet will recharge some cordless tool battery packs on the job. I use mine in the cab to recharge my laptop computer while driving between jobs. Pretty low watts makes it of low utility.

The only thing I’ve used it for is for an aquarium pump to aerate a bucket of minnows. Works well for that.
