I get this message a lot.  Finally took it in and they say my SD card slot is fine, so it must be the SD Card - which I believe is used for GPS - is bad.  $321.97 for a replacement.

Anyone heard of this before.  Can I just find someone else with same truck and make copy of their card?  Otherwise I am just going to remove it, since I don't use the truck's GPS.  But wonder how I can disable that message.

That's the same source the dealership parts department uses.  Their price is substantially higher because they want a profit.  They don't get a discount.  Over a decade ago I was an aftermarket parts supplier to several dealerships.  I built relationships with managers and parts personnel at several dealers.  They informed me they marked up their items by 70% to net a 40% average profit.  If you can utilize the same source and save a bunch of money, I'd do it.

I used to get that issue a lot. If I remember correctly what finally cured the issue was the replacement of 3 items tied to the nav., all in the console. The card reader was one of those items. I will see if I can find the paperwork from when it was done. It should list the items that were replaced, although I am sure it was not just the reader. Since mine was done about 18 months ago the nav has been excellent.

Edit to add: I doubt the card itself is bad, outdated maps? sure. Bad? Doubtful.

I ordered on from Amazon and tried it.  Did not recognize the card, so sending it back.

The first time that it did this, I also had a camera issue. They replaced one of the cameras and a board.  I will have to find the paperwork.  It was over $750, but it was still under warranty.

My Nav works, so not sure what would be wrong with the card.

I highly doubt it's the card. My nav worked too until I would get "SD card removed". It was a very common problem. New Nav cards need to be encoded to the vehicle V.I.N.. and will only work in that particular vehicle.

I was getting that message. Took it to dealer and they said it was a bad card. They ordered a new card, installed it a week later and all is okay.  Done under warranty.
My understanding is that the card is coded to your vehicle so cannot be copied or used in another vehicle.
