Get an extender. If you are just moving around the driveway or in my case out at the marina, it doesn't chime if you stay under 14 mph.

I wear one on the public roads all the time but I figure if you can operate a motorcycle without a helmet why should one be forced to use a seatbelt. But anyway.....

The seat belt is a PITA if you are working offroad with a trailer or something. Certainly, always wear it on the roadways.

Before you pay for one, you can get one for free at the dealership parts counter.  I use it because the dog sets things off when he's in the passenger seat.

if it's like the seatbelt sensor that was in my 2004 Envoy you can defeat the truck knowing if you buckled or not by unplugging the 2 pin connector for the seatbelt buckle and I believe when I tore apart the buckle there was just a simple slide switch so when you shove the buckle into the latch it would break the connection between the 2 wires and go open circuit and then when you are unbuckled it will short the 2 wires together.

I'm no expert and don't come after me if it backfires but you can try to follow the small little wire that comes off the buckle and unplug it and start the truck and see if it even flashes the seatbelt light at you. Now if you fix the drivers seat in this manner i'm not sure if it will also work the same for the passenger seat as there is a weight capacity switch on the bottom of the seat along with the wire going to the seatbelt latch, my guess is the passenger seat can keep the weight switch alone and just unplug the wire going to the buckle and it will trick the computer into thinking both seats are buckled.
