BigE_N_TX Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Hello All, I received this very odd message on my Wife’s 2021 Tahoe this afternoon and was curious if anyone has seen this on your 2019 up Silverado’s or Sierra’s who have the 10 speed transmission ? If so, how did you address it? the only strange thing is the weather is at 15 degrees today, I have had cold weather play games with an old Silverado I had. Any logic to this you think? I am just trying to get insight from someone who had this issue or maybe a GM tech as the mileage is 63,000 (3,000 out of powertrain warranty). Thank you for the help! Quote
Mshawn Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 I guessing here but I think you could be right about the weather. These transmissions software are adaptive learning and it being a huge change in weather might have it where it change in what its use to seeing from the driver. I know extreme weather can affect a lot of things. Quote

Good thoughts there @Mshawn This cold is definitely an occurrence here that I can count on one hand (and still have fingers left), so this is why my mind went that way. However, I don’t want to ignore it either if it is due to something serious, hopefully there will be someone to come across this who has seen this message before and provide some feedback. Quote
Mshawn Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 I’m interested in this as well. Knowing what I know about the electronic in these vehicle and adaptive learning, I’ve seen a lot of weird things in vehicles. Also this may be the nature of your trucks adaptive learning but the same identical vehicles be just find. Quote

Can you scan the Tahoe for codes? Generally "Service Now" means shut down to prevent further damage. I would get that truck to a dealer now. Quote
silveradosid Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 at 63k miles you should service the tranny anyways. Quote

Wow what a helpful reply @silveradosid that solves my problem! the maintenance schedule states at 45,000 miles: Automotive filter replacements Transmission fluid exchange service Change of the transfer case fluid Inspection of the evaporative control system and at 90,000 miles: Transmission, brake, transfer case, and oil fluids replacements Inspection of the evaporative control system Spark plugs tested and replaced as my original post stated, any tech’s or individuals who has encouythis message please chime in….. silveradosid Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 as Bikerjon stated, this problem can be caused by several different things. no tech is going to give you the magic answer. cold weather can cause seals to leak and low pressure in the tranny, solenoids to stick and other problems. no magic answer here, get it scanned and go from there Quote

alexcary5 Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Receiving a "Service transmission now, unable to shift soon" message indicates a potential issue with your vehicle's transmission system. It's essential to address this promptly by consulting a qualified mechanic or contacting roadside assistance. Ignoring transmission problems could lead to further damage or safety hazards on th 1 Quote
Frankielozano214 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Wondering what the outcome of this msg was, I’m in same situation first time it’s been 27 degrees over here since I’ve gotten the truck. Truck only has 12,****** miles on it so might take to dealer. Quote
Dan H 2023 HC Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Sorry for the bad news, Frankie, but mine - and evidently many others, failed in much warmer temps. See this thread. Quote
