Silverstar Fog Light Bulb Warning

Recommended Posts

Posted

Well a few days ago my drivers side fog light has worked intermitantly. I took it out tonight since it completely stopped working to find out it was toast. I bought these bulbs 12/23 and installed them the same day. The longest I have ran them at once time was 2 hrs. I put the old sylvania bulb back in to replace it for now. For $19.99 a bulb I am pretty  right now

I emailed sylvania late last night and got a reply this afternoon

Ryan,

I had the same problem with my passenger side fog, it looked like it just melted in two pieces. I had mine less that 6 weeks. If it happens again, I am emailing the company.

Now my passenger side fog light wnet out. I havd installed thesein Jan & both sides have gone out. I just took it back with my receipt & got another new one. The manager said just keep bringing them back if they continue to burn up. Kinda a pain in the ass though, especially for $40 a pair.

Have these problems only have been with the fog lights? I just replaced my low beams with Silverstars and am thinking about doing the high beams as well. The fog lights I dont really use anyway so wont waste the $$ on them

i dont think so. I have had the low beams for about a year. No problems at all. I think they had a problem with the early batch of fog lights.

Thanks, that is good to know. Did you do your high beams as well? If so did it make a big difference?

I've had my Silverstar lows for about a year and just got the highs a couple of months ago. The highs are definitely whiter than the stockers, but for some reason they're not as white as the lows. I wanted to do the 4-high mod, but I don't know how it'll look if the bulbs are slightly different colors. Probably won't make a difference though, since it would probably blind someone driving the other way if I didn't dim them.

Ok, Now my fourth yes 4TH FOG LIGHT to be burnt out within a month & a half. These are definitely a quality product & worth their weight in road kill. According to my local dealer, the silverstars burn too hot for the size of the housing & burn them selves out. SO that about sums up the Silverstar idea...

Thanks. I will hold on on the highs then since I mostly use the low beams. Maybe later I will change the highs and the fogs too (altho hearing about the problems so not in a hurry). Next bulb change for me will be putting ambers in the DRLs; I have to see what number that is for an 03 Sierra tho.
