Newbie to this forum searching for help.  I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 4x4 crew cab truck.  I have driven the truck 100,000 miles with very few issues.  One day at start up the airbag light was on in the dash and the message center.  I took it to a local mechanic.  He ran diagnostics and came back with an airbag sensor fault and a rear P/S seat belt issue.  I replaced the defective sensor under the core support.  He cleared the code and then the code came right back.  Can someone guide me in fixing this problem? What is the seatbelt issue?  It is my understanding that the airbags will not work if there is an error code.  Thanks

Do you live in the snow/Salt belt? You may have a bad/corroded wire or connector for both. Bad grounds are a known issue with out trucks. Search YouTube for ground fixes. Start with the simplest things first, if that doesn't correct it, go to the more expensive fixes next. You really need a guy like Eric at South Main Auto trouble shooting it rather than using the parts cannon.

What codes did you have before the sensor and what codes do you have now?

So here is the error code that my mechanic found B0085, which appears to be a left front side impact sensor.  I haven't found out where this sensor is located yet, but I will check it out tonight.  He says, according to his snap on scanner, that is the only airbag warning code there is.

No, the front impact sensor was bad.  I replaced it myself.  It was cracked and swollen out of proportion from water/salt damage.  At least it appeared to be, compared to the new one..
