Where will you be getting the L8p cam from? I don't see anyone selling it atm. I also have a L8T and was thinking of doing something similar for my 70 C10 project. I'm also looking at going for SDPC SDR230239LT that Gas Monkey Garage used for their L8T C10 if the L8P cam doesn't become available in the next month or so.

The cam is an LT2 cam. PN 12736191

Interestingly enough, the LT1 cam is much bigger. Like LS donkey bigger.

LT2 cam: .549/.549 lift. Duration is 218/231

LT1 cam: .561/.531 lift. Duration is 242/244 😲 . That's monstrous for a stock cam duratuon. That's the duration of the Tick Polluter I had in an LS2.

I'm thinking an even more wild but still mild (because of conservative auto mfg LSA) L8P would be to use the LT1 cam instead of the LT2. That big duration with this displacement and long intake runners should have the motor doing ~550 over the L8Ps 523.

the stock lt1 cam ( i have one from a 2020 camaro i did a gpi cam in) is p/n 12629512 its  200/207 .551/.524 lift 116.5 lsa  , i think that 242/244 is a copo n/a cam or gm performance grind, not a stock lt1 oem cam.

Leave it to "gm" marketing to obfuscate.

Been a while since i replied… You all are wrong while it was designed off the lt2 cam it is not the same and has considerably more duration than the normal lt2 cam. Also the lt2 cam has afm the l8p cam does not.. With that being said I wasnt able to keep waiting around for it to drop i went with the btr 225 cam instead. Should make better power but wont have the poor mans l8p i had oh well will be evn rowdier. Engine is going in this weekend. Final Setup will be l8t btr 225 cam btr pushrods btr 660 springs che trunion kit

lt2 intake manifold lt5 tb 4” custom intake speed engineering longtubes 3.5” custom exhaust and a udp underdrive pulley will be on e85 should clear 500 wheel na

Got the truck running the same weekend i made my last post… Its on a basemap my tuner made but it drives suprisingly well already its very snappy and powerful already as well.  As far as i know after talking with btr im the only person to use the 225 cam with the oem zl1 6 speed converter. It surges just the tiniest bit when coming to a stop but i expect that will be cleaned up once it goes on the dyno I also expect it to feel even more powerful once its got a full tune and its on e85

Any updates here?

If love to see this setup with an LT4 blower strapped to it!!!

Stay tuned i plan on getting an lt4 blower but not gonna run a crazy amount of boost probably just enough to make about 650 wheel like my turbo setup was. It took 14 psi on the 5.3 with an lt5 cam It will probably only take 5-6 psi on this setup with the cam and all the displacement. As of now its running very good cant get on a dyno until december so still on 93 only but i smoked a scatpack last weekend so its making some decent power already just dont know exactly how much

IMG_4712.thumb.jpeg.5d6a9e507b460b021fce2c671739c67a.jpegGot  it dynoed last month made 534/508 on e50 and on 93 it made 518/490. We never got it higher than e50 on the dyno because i came with too much 93 in the tank but i suspect theres not much power left between e50&e85. I put the gm performance truck intake on before going it needed to be modified some to work with the lt2 intake and lt5 tb. Overall im very happy with the numbers but coming from a turbo setup to this was somewhat underwhelming because of the stock converter the truck gets out of the hole hard but nothing like the old turbo setup.. nothing a 3600 stall shouldnt help ive got it sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. with the tight converter this setup ran 12.3 at 113 with a 1.87 60’.. the old turbo setup ran a 11.49 at 120 mph with a 1.71 60’. The turbo setup was able to stall the zl1 converter much higher being that the torque was instant when building boost on the brake. I look for this setup to run about an 11.9 at 116 and a 1.7 60’ once the converter is in.. we shall see.. still great times for a stock motor with just a cam and boltons im very satisfied with it.

Ps the burnouts are much more vicious in the na setup for some reason 😉
