What are your payments? What is your comfort zone? Insurance payments? My last was 500$ per month. That was at zero percent. My insurance and  registration fees are low. My attitude towards vehicles has changed somewhat. I’m driving them longer.

I havent had a vehicle payment for some time.  My truck before I paid it off was like $550 a month.  I keep shopping for new (ZL1 or 2500ZR2) but seeing the prices (70K+) and not having a payment is nice.  If GM offers a nice blue color in the 2500 ZR2 like they do in the 1500 it may sway me.

Plus my son turns 15 this year and will be driving soon.  Actually on the look out for a reg cab silverado GMT800/900.

I’m going on four years no payments. Once you break that cycle it’s hard to go back. It’s also means cash for the next one. That makes you wait longer especially if it’s costing little to maintain.

I pay cash. Have for years now. I start saving the minute I buy a new one. 😉  Don't have to save much as I drive them to the dump.

Cash only, I only buy new since the 60s, save your buttons and keep them as long as they are reliable and maintenance costs are reasonable. Usually averaged 10 years on all my vehicles, but since i retired, they will be longer. I consider my current (14 years old) just broken in and will keep it a while yet. I also prefer bare bones vehicles that suit my needs only, ergo, no 4WD, no extra electronics, no lift.  it is just to get me from A to B and tow my trailers occasionally.

There’s 4 vehicles I’ve given or sold at low payments to family members. An 06 Elantra we bought new. My grandson drives now. A 15 CRV that my mother in law gave to my wife when she quit driving. We swap my daughter for the much higher mileage odyssey we use for trips. A 17 Camry my granddaughter drives now. And a 06 Mazda 3 my wife bought from a friend another granddaughter drives. All still going. The Elantra is suffering from neglect. My grandson is not very good we the upkeep. In the past I didn’t mind making payments when I found vehicle discounts at 0 percent interest. Even my checking account pays interest, it’s what ever is cost effective. Even though I’ve had many GMs and lately 4 Hyundais I’m not brand loyal. It’s where I save money. Recently I’ve learned that Honda certifing high mileage vehicles in their CPO program. I’ve been watching for a Ridgeline to show up in the program or another odyssey. Hoping Toyota follows suit with Highlander or Tacoma. Waiting for Mavericks to show up with CPOs. Haven’t driven one yet. Then I would pass along the odyssey we have now. Only if I find a real good deal.
