hard starting

This site is great, all you guys are great. I have a 99 Silverado 71k. The truck starts normal when cold, however, once the engine is warm, it takes several cranks to turn over. No codes are showing, and it appears to be running rich when initailly started. Someone told be it could be the IAC. Does that sound correct? Thanks

It could be either that or the fuel pressure regulator... I'd lean towards the regulator myself.

I agree, I just replaced mine two weeks ago and I had the same symptoms.

 

To make sure you fuel pressure regulator is bad, simply pull the vacuum line attached to it, if you have fuel in the tube, this is the problem.

 

It is also easy to replace.

Yeah, I agree on the fuel pressure regulator.

Disconnect the vacuum line that runs to it and if its wet at the fitting on the regulator it is bad.

 

A bad IAC would cause irregular or high idle speeds. It would also affect cold starting, not just warm starts.
