I got it from the GM accessories website under performance parts and they sent the paperwork directly to me. then I had to make the appointment with the dealership,

It had a code number and told the service department to contact them and the required steps.

I paid GM and it told the dealership how to get paid under a warranty line item,

Was it from the Chevrolet Accessories website?  If so that will pull from dealer inventory levels.  If the dealer it was ordered from has none in stock it will email you backordered if it had to be ordered.  If it was from one of those "online GM parts" sellers (GMPartsDirect for example), it likely said backordered because they don't have it in stock and have to order it.

Otherwise, that "part" 85822149 calibration isn't on backorder.  Lots of stock available.

I was just on Chevrolet Accessories website and checked 10 dealers near Minneapolis Minnesota and all were backordered. I left my email with my preferred dealer and will wail for in stock notification. Weird.
