DOD delete time...

2016 GMC Sierra SLE with 5.3

 

in 2021 the transmission self destructed 

this time... it's the DOD giving issues.

 

Last June I had the truck reprogrammed to disable the DOD on the computer.

Over the last few weeks i've had a check engine light with rough idle code.

 

today when I pulled into the driveway, the check engine light was flashing.

 

 

So now the search begins... who around Oklahoma City can honestly and correctly replace the parts to forever correct this one.

 

 

Currently sitting with 120xxx miles.

have you done any diagnosis to check if it is the lifters that are the problem?

Pull the code and see what is going on first, you could save a lot of $ and time.

If it isn't broke don't fix it just yet unless you have a bunch of extra cash laying around.

Compression test and leakdown test first.  Could be a simple as a broken valve spring which can happen on these.  

 

Worst case, the cam has a lobe that's wiped bad.

First things first, get the codes read.  It might be something as simple as a bad coil pack, fouled plug, bad 02 sensor, etc.  I would hate to assume I have to tear down an engine without even knowing what's causing the issue.  If you do wind up tearing it down, its an easy enough job, you can do it in your garage with the engine in the truck if you have a decent tool set.
