With the exception of the 8" drop hitch that I don't have anymore, I have the other 2" shank hitches in the garage including a 1 7/8 ball mount I found stashed in the garage a while back. I'll most likely never use it as they're used on the smallest trailers.

I sent Weigh Safe a message today to find out if the glycerin filled scale will freeze if I keep it in the back of my truck during Vermont winters. I'll post when they reply.

What’s in the scale of mine? I have no idea

More that likely its glycerin as that is the very common fluid used for liquid filled gauges but I presume someone at weigh safe should know and what issues if any the gauge would have in cold weather operation as I can only guess that it would be boggy and slow down the gauges reaction to a change in pressure like typical glycerin gauges are as it gets cold.

Rjgvt mentioned it was a new design so wasn’t sure if they added that.

Most likely the gauge on your hitch has air in it. If the pound markings are on top of the gauge, it is the older Ver 1. The glycerin filled gauges came out for the aluminum hitches in March 2024. They have liquid in the gauge with the pound markings on the bottom. The new steel hitch with the pintle hitch has the version 2 glycerin filled gauge. My slider has the same slider as the pintle hitch set up.

I called Weigh Safe this afternoon.

The glycerin filled gauges are good down to -30F. If it freezes it should be ok when it thaws. If not, they will cover it on warranty.

Weigh Safe has a rubber tailgate bump stop that mounts on the top of the aluminum drop hitches and not for the steel hitches. The top of both hitches are different. I suggested they make a rubber bump stop for the steel hitches. I have the GMC MultiPro tailgate. I disable the inner gate whenever I put a hitch in for towing. It would be nice to have a rubber bump stop just in case. Just before dropping the tailgate and inner gate, I look down at the hitch. Haven’t messed up yet. Never had this type of tailgate before this truck but wouldn’t go without. Being an old guy, it makes life easier.

I asked the woman at Weigh Safe if the pintle hitch could be sold individually since my slider is the same as the one on the pintle hitch full set up. She told me they could sell it for $120. It’s not on the website but might be later. She told me that they don’t want the people with aluminum hitches to get confused even though the aluminum slider doesn’t have the hole in it for the rear of the pintle.
