General Motors has just issued a critical safety recall for nearly 12,000 2025 and 2026 Silverado and Sierra 3500HD gas trucks equipped with dual fuel tanks. A software glitch in the Engine Control Module can cause fuel to become trapped in the secondary tank, leading your dashboard fuel gauge to display an inaccurate, over-optimistic reading. Because of this, the truck can run completely out of available gas and unexpectedly stall out while driving.

We’ve broken down the exact production dates affected, the specific technical cause behind the glitch, and how GM is rolling out the fix—which gives owners the opportunity to accept a simple Over-The-Air (OTA) update without visiting the dealership—in our full article on the homepage.

Read the full breakdown and check your production dates here: https://www.gm-trucks.com/gm-recall-2025-2026-silverado-sierra-3500hd-fuel-gauge-stall/

Let's use this thread to track the rollout:

  • Have any of you 3500HD owners experienced this "lying" fuel gauge out in the wild?

  • For those who are affected, have you received the OTA update prompt on your dash yet, or are you scheduling a dealer visit?

Drop your experiences, questions, and update statuses below so we can see how quickly GM is pushing this out to the fleet!
