I've had red brake calipers on my last 3 trucks. All three trucks were black. All had chrome aftermarket wheels .

A lifted 2018 1500 on 38s, a 22  1500 High Country and a 23 1500 High Country.

Now  my 26 3500HD LTZ is White and I'm putting some

TIS 544C 20x9s with 37x12.50R20 Toyo Open Country RT pros.

On the fence if I should do it again. And what color, red again?

I'm sure I'll be getting flamed for this and that's cool but I really want you guys' honest opinion. I won't get all butthurt if you don't like the idea.Screenshot_20250205_193907_Photos.thumb.jpg.90bd531de2876f949a5aa25b50cd0a07.jpg

I'm not a fan in general, what is the purpose? I could understand a branded performance caliper being a specific color, not painting one for the sake of...

I am much more critical of whether or not they are clean.

I’m of the same mind as asilverblazer, but red on a black truck is a safe choice. I have seen bright yellow calipers on a black 911 and that looked good.

This is one thing I would never do.

As I am a fan of having some chrome on a black truck ( the only issue is keeping black clean looking ! ), I also admire painted calipers and red goes nice with the black truck and reflecting off of the chrome wheels.

A white truck, again be it with chrome or or white bumpers although not a big fan of a white out white truck, though they can look nice if its clean and no chips in the white bumpers. And again red calipers with chrome wheels and possibly matching red tow hooks and certainly tinted front windows enough to match the rear windows.

I have a question to the op, what is your technique in cleaning up a caliper and then what type of paint are you using, is it a high heat primer and then high temp paint and a high temp clear coat as well ?.

What doesn't look so professional is a caliper with quite a portion of the paint having fallen off and the rest of the caliper rusty as a poor prep job no doubt was done and can imagine its not an easy task to get it so clean and oil free so that paint will stay put for years to come.

I clean them with acetone and a toothbrush.

Then wipe down with lacquer thinner.

Mask off with tape and tin foil.

POR 15 Caliper paint using a 1/2 wide brush. Easy.

With a non rusty crusty caliper to start with, that sounds like its worked for you by cleaning it and that special paint might have something to do with that. I gather that no primer is required with this special paint then ?
