For anyone interested in a direct upgrade, here’s one of our more popular options for these trucks, our 91mm throttle body:

Designed for improved airflow and more immediate throttle response while maintaining factory fit and drivability.

I see that I would need an adapter for the 91mm if I want to use it in my 2016 5.3l Silverado. I also see this 80mm one that lists it works with the 5.3l motors.

What differences would I see between the 2? Why would I want one over the other?

It really depends on your setup and future plans.

Both the 80mm and 91mm are going to give you similar benefits overall, better airflow, improved drivability, and reduced throttle lag.

For your 5.3 Silverado, the 80mm is a great option if you want a simple setup. It’s a direct bolt-on with no adapter needed, which keeps things clean and avoids adding anything between the manifold and throttle body.

The 91mm requires an adapter to fit your manifold. While it works great, that adapter can introduce a slight bottleneck, so you are not always getting the full benefit unless the rest of your setup can support it.

Neither option requires a tune.

If your truck is stock or lightly modified, the 80mm is probably your best bet and will perform exactly how you want.

If you are planning more mods down the road and want something you can grow into, then the 91mm would make more sense.

Mostly stock with pretty much no upgrade plans. The only real modification I've done is to use an Range AFM disabler. I've had it for 10 years now so if I was going to do any major mods, I would have done them already. I like the idea though of getting better driveability and less throttle lag. This sounds like something I will be considering soon. Thanks!

One other question. I have seen others use items like the Pedal Commander to reduce lag and better performance. If I just upgrade the throttle body to a Soler, does that eliminate the need for something like the Pedal Commander?

Thanks for the details. For your setup and plans, the 80mm throttle body will be perfect, no need for the 91mm.

About the throttle controller, ours is a one-time purchase with all features included, unlike some competitors that require subscriptions. You can check it out here: https://www.solerengineering.com/generalmotors/se0536-tc

In short, the throttle body improves airflow for smoother power and less lag, especially in daily driving and quick throttle bursts. The throttle controller adjusts how quickly the throttle responds to your pedal, making the car feel more responsive.

Used together, the throttle body gives real airflow gains and power, while the controller gives precise electronic control. It’s a simple way to remove both physical and electronic limits.

You can try either or both risk-free with our 30-day return policy.

I installed the Pedal Commander - no subscription required - and it worked great for a while, adjustable performance on throttle response from less to more. Also, I can control it via Bluetooth with my phone with the free app.
One day, however, I got an error code thrown and went in to limp mode.
I disconnected it, cleared the code and all was well.
I left it in the truck and I'll try it out again soon to see if the issue repeats.
Otherwise it did work well and it might have been my fault as some adjustments should be done with the caveat "DO NOT change modes while your foot is on the gas pedal" and I think I did one, or a few, adjustments on the fly.  O_o
*I do see they now have a subscription based ant-theft option*

Several years ago I had the Pedal Commander (PC) installed for about 2 months and it was great at first. Untitil one day while driving I had a ton warnings pop up and the truck went into limp mode. Thankfully I was close to work when it happened and not on the highway. I removed the battey cable and disconnected the PC and I've never had that problem again. Maybe it was a onetime thing, but I wasn't going to risk to it happening again.
