1. silv owner

2. well since I payed 36K for a plain ls truck  I figure it will/should go for under 45K   that's all I would pay for it

I'd like to see the bose system dumped because bose isn't worth a dime, and add a REAL stereo system.. maybe some subs under the rear seats

number 6 and 9 are the only thing I like out of the list

The 5.3 shouldn't even be an option for the SS and 20's should be the standard but come in chrome or at least polished.

I'm very glad to see that it will be an extended cab model.  The fact that the Lightning and upcoming SRT-10 are not really turn me off to them.  Having that extra passenger room really comes in handy sometimes.

But the unfortunate part is that although the Escalade powertrain is potent at 345 hp, it quite a disapointment considering the competition.

The AWD I'm sure adds a couple hundred pounds at least, so it's place on a "performance truck" is confusing.  I'd have been happy with just a Torsen or Auburn differential.

I imagine the price is going to come in at close to $37k.  For that money, I'd rather just spend a few more grand and get a Sierra Denali and get Quadrasteer as well.

1. '02 Silverado HD2500 DMAX owner AND performance enthusiast! (one of my favorite trucks was a '79 GMC short-wide I had with a crate LS6 454 dropped in the bay...scary fast!).

2. I'll probably be blasted for saying this, but I think GM made a HUGE mistake by going with the Avalanche front-end styling with these new trucks, and I know I'm not alone in voicing a negative reaction to the new look. Based on the looks of this truck alone, I'll spend my money on the V-10 Ram street truck...what a shame; I'd really love to pledge allegiance to the Bowtie...you listening there, GM?

1.     Are you an enthusiast, Silverado owner, competitive make owner, or other? other

2     What would you pay for the upfit Silverado SS package? Please give us a TOTAL package list price you might be willing to pay.

(Specs listed below.) $3500 for the package, tops.  $30,000 for the whole truck.

Individual Features- What would you pay for the following?  Please list a price for each feature.

3     All-Wheel-Drive? $2500

4     5 vs. 2 passenger carrying capability $0

5     greater towing / payload capability? $0

6     6.0Liter 345 hp Vortec over the Silverado 5.3L? $850

7     Full locking differential on a performance truck? $190

8     The SS brand name? $0

9     20" wheels? $0 (i would pick my own)

suggestions:

- get atleast 380 HP out of the engine, ford and dodge are probably laughing their tails off at the power rating of the SS.

- offer a regular cab version

- make AWD optional

- offer a stripped down version for serious racers (power window/lock delete, radio delete, 20" wheel delete, buckets w/o center console.  this will leave room for serious modifiers)

- change front end

i think GM missed the point with the SS, it looks like it is more luxury than speed.  the company that makes the corvette should be able to better than this...

See, i can do it too.. hehe

1. Mostly enthusiast-but i own a corvette and a S-10 Zr2.

2.I can't see wanting to pay more than $3k-$5k max for the option. Anymore than that, and its Sierra Denali time with the 4WS.

3.I think AWD is main feature here, and alone-close to $1k.

4. Ext cab is alone a $4k option, but with a package, more like $1k.

5. Depends on how much, and compared to what.  Another 1000lbs of towing capacity is worth about a grand to me i guess.

6.Another key feature here! $2k. More power!

7. $500

8. Brand isn't worth anything unless its coupled with something worth of the name.  In this  case, SS is worth whatever the whole package is. Therefore $3k-$5k.

9.$799

I'm thinking Paco is pretty close on this by the way I look at it.

Chevrolet is about to badge this truck as a Super Sport yet the only thing IMO that makes it seem worthy of SS badging is the air induction and the exhaust, both of which can easily be added through aftermarket resources and probably cheaper at that.

I'm sorry to say it but I'm totally unimpressed.AWD and Escalade engine or not, this total truck package is worth no more than 30k regardless of the fact that it can carry 5 people.

i am a silverado owner!

i would pay in the price range of $5000 for the upgrade IF IT WAS WORTHY!!!!!

Individual Features- What would you pay for the following?  Please list a price for each feature.

3     All-Wheel-Drive?

4     5 vs. 2 passenger carrying capability

7     Full locking differential on a performance truck?

8     The SS brand name?

9     20" wheels?

i don't really care about the individual options.....see below!

on a side note, they better be able to compete with this....

"Power for the SVT Lightning continues to be provided by a supercharged 5.4-liter Triton SOHC V-8 producing 380 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. "

and from what was posted here, it doesn't look like that will happen!!!!!

come on GM wake up!!!! the '03 cobra puts out almost as much HP as the Z06 (were these 2 cars meant to compete in that ring????) does that mean that the SS is going to be a disappointment versus the lightning as well?????

.....lets get back to the days of old, where to compete for the consumer dollar, you had to "showthe numbers....HP numbers that is!!!" remember in the good ol' days when SS stood for something....not just a body package???????

put a motor like sallee chevrolet is selling....a 572 CI big block....the ZZ572!!!!!!!!

An ugly body like that,, no thanks.

8     The SS brand name?  175

9     20" wheels? better wheels and i'll think about it

suggestions:

no all wheel drive, you'll lose the lowered truck crowd (too expensive to do suspension mods on.

do it right and do billet faux brake cooler inserts those ones look cheap

offer the SS package without the bose system, but with just as many factory speakers- much more upgradeable

of course a fold up back seat- or i'll cut it out for my subs

BUILD THIS TRUCK RIGHT AND I'LL COLLECT THE SERIES!

I don't think I would pay more that $3000 over what a loaded LT 4x4 extended cab costs.  Although, I have to say if they price this truck in the high 30's to around 40k.  I'll have one in my driveway.

1.     Are you an enthusiast, Silverado owner, competitive make owner, or other? Enthusiast and Sierra owner (Sold a '97 Camaro SS to buy my Sierra)

2     What would you pay for the upfit Silverado SS package? Please give us a TOTAL package list price you might be willing to pay.  $4000 for the package max (like the Camaro option)

$30,000-$40,000 for the whole truck depending on options not listed.

Individual Features- What would you pay for the following?  Please list a price for each feature.

3     All-Wheel-Drive? $1000

4     5 vs. 2 passenger carrying capability $0

5     greater towing / payload capability? $400

6     6.0Liter 345 hp Vortec over the Silverado 5.3L? $800

7     Full locking differential on a performance truck? $190

8     The SS brand name? $0

9     20" wheels? $400 (18's would be fine, easier to find grippy tires for, and lighter)

Options not listed...

1.    Don't even think about producing it unless it can produce 400 rwhp with less than $1k mods (like the Lightning can)

2.    Turbo or S/C

3.    Sunroof

4.    Projector/HID lights

5.    lighter bed (protec maybe)

6.    Electric cooling fans (like every other performance GM)

7.    Angular fender flares for the bed (to tie in the theme of the front end)

8.    Carbon fiber/fiberglass hood (lighter)

9.    Put the truck on a DIET (lilke you did the Z06, but don't waste money like you did on the Z06 Titanium exhaust that will probably be changed anyway).  Save weight where it will make a difference.

10.   More sporty seats

11.   Trip computer (like Denali, Expedition, etc.)

12.    Remember the competition-Lightning-if you can't beat it, don't challenge it.

1)enthusiast/sonoma owner

2)For a properly built package I would pay $4000-$4500

Individual features-What would you pay?

3)All wheel drive-$1500

4)5 vs. 2 passenger seating-$400

5)Greater towing/payload capability-$300

6)6.0L/345 hp over the 5.3L-$800

7)Full locking differentail-$200

8)SS brand name-$150

9)20" wheels-$350(they are nice but good be better)

I would have to agree with several of the other suggestions that were made to make this truck worth the SS name.

Such as:

-put a SC on it(it's gotta meet or beat the lighting)

-sportier seats, like suede inserts or something

-sunroof would be nice

-over head console trip computer

-I'd like to see the gear selector in the center console,it's sporty(manual or auto)

-maybe 4ws instead of awd

-tonneau cover

-definetly a protec bed(durable,won't rust,light weight)

-drop the bose,go with factory or a different system

-instead of a bench seat in the back how about buckets?(i know ford did it on the harley-davidison edition and you lose 1 spot for seating, but done right it looks good and is comfortable.

The list could go on and on,but the thing is,in order to compete against the lighting it's gotta have more power.Be it by turbo,SC,or tweaking the engine itself.I wouldn't worry too much about dodge's srt-10 ram,cuz it uses viper engine, brakes, and some suspension, and sits on 24" wheels, which means it will probabaly be a niche truck and pretty expensive.I hope Gm is listening to us and does the SS Silverado justice.I would expect to pay $35,000-$37,000.
