What's with people?

I went into Checker's to get my new radiator and when I came out there was this guy under the hood of his SWEET 91-98 GMC 4x4 (had ~6-9" total lift, ~37" tires and some other nice looking mods and as I walked buy, he wasn't busy at that moment, so I complimented him by saying "That's a sweet a55 truck, man"  And he just looked at me like I told him his nuts were on fire and his nose fell off!  

 

Why can't people acknowledge a compliment on something they've worked hard on and put alot of money into? I just don't get it.

 

Sorry, had to vent.

Although, when you said he looked like you just told him his nuts were on fire, well, that's the funniiest thing I've heard all day.

You shop at checker too.  I was beginning to think I was the only one.  There's one a few miles from my house and I know all the guys that work there so if I have time I'll hang out and talk to them.  

 

As for people not accepting compliments, it's just dang rude.  I haven't run into that problem yet.  Heck, I love it when people compliment me on my truck.
