Shift Kit info?

Is there a shift kit for a 4L60-E that just kinda plugs into the ECM and changes the shift firmness without being coupled with valve body modification? I'm looking for just a plug and play shiftkit and would appreciate it if you all could steer me in the right direction.

Put the Westers PCM in your truck. Lyndon Wester will custom program everything you need, and your motor will come to life too...

Somebody told me that adding line pressure via computer tuning, is the same as installing a shift kit. All the shift kit does is add line pressure. I always thought a shift kit was the better way to go. Any thoughts?

That is a negative! The shift kit does more than increase line pressure. You turn line pressure up to high in Edit and you will have problems! Putting a shift kit in your 4L60 will do alot more for performance than Edit can. The TransGo will manually hold 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to any RPM. Manually downshift to any gear at any speed. Increases TCC apply/feel and improves holding power. Stops notoriuos 4L60E engagement delay/bang, reduces 3-4 clutch failure which is a BIG plus in my opinion! The 3-4 clutch burn-up is a very frequent problem in the 4L60. The TransGo increases flow of fluid to the 3-4 clutch pack to prevent any problems due to lack of lubrication. It is a good idea to kill Torque Managment after you install the shift kit. Otherwise you will REALLY feel the effects of it. Truck will fall flat on its face between shifts. Also look into a TransGo shift kit! If you want really hard shifts, look at billet intermediate and overdrive servos. If you do the TransGo and both billets then I recommend you not put any washers in the accumulator. Otherwise you could say bye-bye to the output shaft or whatever else decides to break.

That's good to know. I have always thought the shift kit was the way to go. :loser: Also adding the corvette servo will make it shift better 1st to 2nd right?

Yes the Vette Intermediate will provide more holding power which will help the 1-2 shift. The billet servo will make that shift even stiffer! The TransGo is the only shift kit I would spend my money on.

KDS Performance has awesome prices. They even have the shift kit with the Vette servo for $104 bucks.
