sgiangregorio Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 Ok, this is annoying. A few months ago, my driver's side door speaker starting crackling. J-Rod was kind enough to send me the ones he pulled out of his truck. It's now doing it again, same door!! What the heck is going on...seems very weird that this reoccurred in the same door. Has anyone else had this problem? Here's the other thread. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...hl=door+speaker Thanks
sealevel Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 Just some thoughts>> Door has leak, making contacts bad. Wire is cut somewhere, grounding out? Try attaching speaker to another stereo to see if crackling occurs. Head unit problem? Loose antenea, I believe it is ground for head unit. It's probably Your speakers can't handle the output of deck with out a cross-over to control the frequency range (hi's and lows) Try turning base all the way down, and see if they still crack. I hope you find it.
sgiangregorio Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 Thanks for the ideas. The whole system is stock, nothing custom.
az'03Silverado Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Maybe it's your taste in music? No, seriously, I agree with sealevel. It's got to be something other than the speaker. Definately checkout the contacts and as much of the wiring as you can. It could be chaffing on something and shorting out. Good luck, though. Electrical problems suck. And driving without tunes sucks even more!
5.3LSilverado01 Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 It could be just coincidence. Factory speakers are cheap. Camaros are notorious for blowing factory speakers. Althoguh they have that 500 watt monsoon amp. But still, if you play music load, any factory speaker will blow, sooner or later.
