Change Oil Message

Recommended Posts

Posted

I changed my oil and tried to reset the Change Oil Message like I have done on the previous oil changes and for some reason it will not reset. I pulled out the book and I was doing it like the book said. I probably tried it 2 dozen times or more with no luck. The truck is a 2001 Chevrolet C1500. Does anyone know of another way to reset the message other than pressing the gas pedal 3 times in the first 5 seconds after turning the ignition switch to the run position?

Thanks

Try pressing a little slower, with a half second rest at each position.

Depress, hold 1/2 second, release, wait 1/2 second and so on.

THe computer monitors the throttle position sensor. It takes a moment for the throttle control to open the throttle up and close it again. (Not cable driven anymore.)

Hope this helps.

Well I had given up and yesterday afternoon I started it up the message did not come on and I cut it off and restarted it and it did not come on again. So I guess it is fixed now.
